New V-Rod Owners: Lesson #1

Do not activate your alarm until you have memorized both the unlock procedure (it's not what you would think - and everyone else in the world uses) and also the override unlock for dead fobs.

Stupid me figured I'd arm it. Went to leave after dinner, pushed the button on the fob just like any sane person would on EVERY other alarm ever seen and all it does is re-arm.

After 15min of cussing and swearing I hit on the right combination of pushing buttons turning keys and whateverthehellgotitunlocked, loaded up and went home. I was sure it was going to end up on a flatbed.

I've had enough for today, too tired to even read the owners manual again (did so a few months ago.)

I'll figure it out tomorow.

My advise: test at home, also test that you know how to unlock it w/ a dead fob.

Re: New V-Rod Owners: Lesson #1

To disarm/unlock the alarm, push the fob button twice, like double clicking a mouse. But I don't remember the disarm procedure for a dead fob....hoping I never need to use it.

Good thing you didn't require a tow because the alarm would've been blaring as soon as the bike was moved.

Owner's manual has little cards in it you can carry with you for unlocking procedure w/o fob. If you carry it, I just recommend not writing your code on the card like it suggests!

I tried double click several times and this did not work.

I think it was a triple click that did it.

Perhaps I was double clicking too fast/slow (like double click sensativity in windows.) All I know is that I was getting pissed in a big hurry.

I particularly like the video they supply, showing the guy with the ponytail reading the manual while doing the turn signal dance. Like any guy with a pony tail ever read a manual....

Its a new and scary age.
