Does Anyone Really Buy V-Rods?

I don't mean to be inflamatory here but I was at my dealer picking up a new bike for my wife today and I noticed that there was not one single VRSC bike in the building, nothing new, nothing used. I was at a fairly big dealer in Milwaukee too.

Clearly either they sell all of them, or they don't bother with them at all. Which is it?

I know 3 who have 'em. One worked for me on the grind line at Timken. The other two are doctors. The docs like the water cooled engine and the power. Kind of like having a Harley Metricson

Here's a photo of my brother's Anniversary VRSCA taken in Luckenbach, Texas during my 500 mile break-in ride. Parked next to the V-Rod is my dad's Anniversary Road King.
I've also attached a post link to his ride in a calendar shoot recently: calendar

At the time of this photo, October 2005, both '03s belonged to my father and I know he wishes he had never sold the V-Rod to my bro'. They've both poured love & $$$$ into this bike.

Here in Alaska that don't stick around long new or used. I see very few on the road though. When I 1st started riding mine it seemed like it was the only one.

I guess some people buy things for garage trophies.

I see 'em all the time and would like to have one as a second bike someday. They're a lot of fun but the lack of cornering clearance kind of kills it for me as an only bike. It's a fun bike otherwise.

You're not kidding about the cornering clearance. It is kind of fun to scrape your heals all the way around a curve though

Stock night train is 31/34degrees and V rod is 32/32. Not that much difference.

I have owned and exstensivly ridden all HD models. As well as numerous sport bikes. Currently I have a XL,FX,FLHT,VRSCR. The two softails I owned were a FLST and a FXST. I put over 100k miles on the FLST. The Softails are the worst handling bikes hd makes. My bagger would ride circles around the softails.
I bought the vrod to drag race. Never giving a vrod a consideration till then. Now I have owned the vrod and got to ride it more than a test ride. I found it was the best harley I ever owned. I would never think of buying any other model than a vr. I am considering another vr for street riding. With a turbo of course!
Rent one and ride it fora weekend. You may find that you dont want to give it back.

I bought my Night Rod in 2007. My brother in law bought a Night Rod Special 2 weeks ago. People are buying them. The traditional H-D, whoever that may be, will one day realize the V-Rod is good for the company. I've owned 2 other H-Ds and the V-Rod is no comparisons! The traditionalist mainly rag the V-Rod because Porsche' helped in redesigning the Revolution engine. What the traditionalist fail to realize is that Porsche' also helped with the Evolution engine in the 1980's!

What about the Street Rod? The mid controls were better placed than the fwd controls of the V-rod. I read the bike was a better handling bike as well, I know the bike had a short life with the MoCo. Now with the release of the XR1200 why would you want to buy a V-rod? Many are stating the XR is the best Harley ever, for handling anyway.

If you are looking to compete with a Buell Lightening or a Ducati Monster, then yeah the cornering sucks. It would be a great ride even on the Dragon. The only new tire nubs left on my tires are the ones on the very edge of the tires. I get over quite regular to within a quarter inch of the edge of the tire. Have I scrapped....yep!!! The only bike in the group that didn't was a Buell.

Come on the bike is long and sporting a 240 rear tire for a reason and cornering is not one of them.

The XR is just leaning (pun intended) into the sportbike arena. My 2cents.
