V-rod valve check: necessary ?

Is it really necessary to have a valve check at 10.000 miles on a v-rod ? It runs fine, no noises, no ticking etc. I expected that the valves only need to be checked at 50.OOO miles instead. After all, this is a modern engine.
Can I refuse the socalled need check ? I read a lot of vrods checked and none needed to be adjusted.

The first is probably the most important check as the loss of clearance is worse than too much, lose clearance, poor seating = burnt valve(s).

I believe HD changed there recomendation to 15,000. I just did a 50k mile service on a 03. Only two of the valves needed adjustment.

No. It isn't. The latest tech update that I have seen says the Valve Lash check for 1130cc displacement motors is 15,000 Miles. I believe the Valve Lash check has been moved to 12,000 on the 1250cc bikes.

Your 50K mile plan is a bit generous. I would check valve lash every 30K miles at a bare minimum.

With the overhead valves, the valve lash should get SMALLER and require thinner shims as the valves seat.
