Stock Mirror View

It may be just me, but the stock mirrors do not give a good view of behind. They seem to be in the wrong place. I have to tuck my elbows in to see behind. Kinda handy when changing lane at 90 mph with no screen . I am not big fat b*st*rd either.

I had a Guzzi before and the mirrors were great. I am not sure if the mirrors need to be higher or out wider.

Has anybody else noticed this.

Yep, they suck. I used KuryAkyn Magnum Plus mirrors. They have the long stems and were designed for drag bars. They go out to the sides more instead of up and give a great view. I've had them on my last 6 bikes and everyone that rides one get the same mirrors for themselves.

Worm, did you bend the stock V-Rod mirror stems, and, if so, did that result in the gray paint or finish cracking or buckling any?

no problem with bending no cracking at all
just remember bend them with bare hands no tools. carefully placed the base into vise and be carefull of the treads I bend them enough now that the rear view has increased by alot

mirror

Here is another. You can see how they are more out to the sides of the bike than up in the air.

I have found that moving the mirror farther forward seems to do the trick for me. By that I mean just rotate the mirror forward, even though it would not seem to help as much it puts a greater distance between your arm and the mirror. I have rather large chest and arms and have no problem with some HD billet mirrors.

Holli's mirrors

I'm using the same mirrors as Holli (see attached pic). The mirrors really suit the bike but you can't see a friggin thing behind you.
BTW Holli, I'm using your pic as my desktop background - beautiful bike.

I guess I'm the big fat b*st*rd referred to by Roddy. :-) I'm 6'4" and weigh a little over 300 pounds and powerlift for fun. For the mirrors to be any use I have to be in a turn, take my hand off the bars, and lean out of the turn to see if anything is behind me. I actually went to the dealership that I bought the bike from and we tried to see if any mirrors would allow me to see behind me. They don't. A mirror would have to be about 6 inches outside the end of the handlebars for me to begin to see behind. Oh well, I know that doesn't help much but I think I'll get the Screaming Eagle exhaust, etc. so I can have more power so that I don't have to worry what's behind me.
