V-Rod vs Sportster 1200
Before you guys start flaming I understand these bikes are totally different. Nonetheless, I am looking for objective comparisons of the fun factor.
I used to ride an Aprilia RSV-R which is a 1000cc sportbike twin. I am now considering another bike and would like to stick with a twin but I may go the cruiser route. I have never ridden a Harley and can imagine that both are a blast in their own way.
I like the matte 08 Sportser 1200 for its simplistic, lean, Jimmy Dean feel. The Nightrod however has been tugging at me since I first saw its beefy lowslug stance. Any of you VRSC owners that have ridden a Sporty 1200 willing to offer feedback?

I used to have a 1994 1200 Sporty. The new ones are a bit different. Anyway, I have a bit more fun on my Night Rod. Don't get me wrong, a Sportser is also a fun bike, I just like the lowslug stance of my Night Rod. The difference between the Revolution and Evolution is quite a bit. The Night Rod definitely quicker in getting up to speed than the Sporty was.

Ride them both and see for yourself.
Then buy the v-rod.
(Yes, I've ridden both)

Used to own a 06 VRSCA and the bike screams. Now riding a Dyna but you are comparing apples to oranges so my advice is to ride both. My guess is that if you are coming off a sportbike you are going to like the V-Rod but the new sportsters are nice bikes as well. Good luck.

An educated reply from a guy that rides a fat boy.You never see them around. BTW you spelled Harley wrong in your profile.

Try them both. I have a rod, and I don't dislike sporty's but being a fellow sport biker, I can tell you that the v-rod will make you smile more. I sure it's a bias opinion , but a test ride will answer your question. The best sporty Harley has isn't available here in the USA. The XR 1200 looks bad ass, and handles. Got to love the MoCo.

I ended up getting a new NightTrain. It is stage 1, lowered, rear disc wheel, skull grips, mirrors, pegs. I'll likely switch out the skull theme for a more simple look.
Only thing I may change is an aftermarket front wheel. Any suggestions on good sources?
here are some pics:

Sharp Train Evoking!!!
Hogpro will take care of you on anything wheel related. They helped me get a PM wheel shipped from PM in a few days when everyone else told me 4 to 5 and 6 to 8 weeks.

Have the VRSCDX a year, drove the Nightster last weekend, have driven the Crossbones a few times and have one on order, in my opinion its a far nicer bike to drive than the DX & Nightster, try one before you make up your mind, the Bones holds the road better than the Nightster and though its a good bit heavier than the Night Rod Special it feels a whole lot lighter, warning, front brake in the Bones not great, good luck with your choice
