The right tire is personal preference. I think the Metzler Marathon 880's are the best match for the V-Rod. They are a bit softer feeling than the Dunlops, and grip well. They compliment the handling of the V-Rod. They wear nice and even without the cupping on the front tire that the dunlops are notorious for.

The Avons are stickier, but they wear faster than the Metzlers, in my experience.

I agree, the Metzler 880's are a great tire. I like that the 200's are available in a "Z" speed rating. I don't think that Avon have any Z tires for the V-Rod. I am running a 200 Metzler 880 and it gets great traction, seems to be wearing well, plus I really need a speed rating higher than "V", as I have a Trask Turbo and often see speeds faster than a V rating might be safe at.

Metzlers are favored but bridgestone are also good apparently. However the new batch of Dunlop have improved and stopped cupping.

Smile

I put the new Avon Cobra Tires on my 06 VRSCA. The bike handles better than with the Dunlops. It doesn't follow groves in pavement like the Dumlops.

here's the place where I've bought my tires in the past.

they have a large stock of tires and their prices couldn't be beat.

Avon's are my choice

I got over 16k miles from my Avon Venom's (3 times) on my ex Valkyrie & I rode it pretty hard. Similar wear on wifes sportster too, but you gotta run higher pressure. I buy mine from Dennis Kirk.
