starter relay switch

2003 V-Rod, every two months the starter relay switch goes out. Has anyone ever had this problem?
Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

What part of the relay quits working? There is a coil side that is energized from the starter push button switch. And there is a switch side that turns on the starter solenoid. Does the the relay still click when you push the button but the starter doesn't engage or does the relay no longer click because the coil side is burnt out?

Yes, the relay switch makes a clicking sound when hitting the start button.

Take one of the bad relays and take it apart. There will be some contacts in it, see if they are burnt or badly pitted. Some pitting and discoloration is normal, look for excessive damage. This would be a sign of drawing too much current through the relay contacts. If this is the case the solenoid may have a problem that is causing it to draw too much current. You could use a clip on current meter to see if you are drawing more than the relay is rated for. I think that is a 30 amp relay.

check cables also

to add to what springer said check all your cables looking for any corosion and check the grounds also a bad connection can amplify the current draw and burn out alot of things .

I assume you checked your battery. VRSCs need to be kept on battery chargers or the security system will drain the battery in a few days. There is not enough juice left for the spark, but the starter will still click.
