Damn you hated it that much huh???
I can appreciate the V-Rod but I don't think it would be for me. I sat on one of the Night Rod Specials at the factory and there is no I would be comfortable on it. Don't get me wrong the NRS is a badass looking machine. Just one I am better off admiring than owning.

I test rode one a wile back, it was a used 2005 model, with enough miles on her to not worry about break-in.
Wile I was very impressed with the shear raw power this bike has, and the strait line stability, the cornering just flat sucked.
I live in a place with more twisted roads then strait ones, cornering is very important, so is fuel range.
At the time, the V-rod only had a 3.7 gallon tank, which equalled to a range of 95-105 miles.
Again, this range will not work unless you only plan to ride in the Portland metro area.
On my resent trip from Kennewick to John day, it was 127.6 miles, no gas stations.
In the eastern part on my state, it can be a very long way until the next gas, and on that trip, the state sign said it was 66 miles to the next gas......that station was closed down and abandoned.
No one told The Posse riders this, and they were sent down this route with that wrong info on the map.
More then a couple ran out of gas before they got to John Day.
The 2007's added a new tank or 5.1 gallons, and make it a far better bike to distance riding.
Now if they would just de-rake it a bit, it would be a perfect bike.

I also rode the v-rod at the demo's mine was on sunday. I will have one of these I loved the power and the ride. I rode the standard and the nite rod. I like the seating postion of the standard better. What year did they go to the 5 gallon tank 06 or 07? I've been looking at used ones.

I love my V
BTW, they switched to the larger tanks in 07. I have an 06 with an aftermarket 4.9 gal tank. If you're looking at used v rods, certain things to note, they ugraded to the brembos in 06, and 07 got the wider tire in the rear (not all models)and 5 gal tank.

New V-Rod
Well, I just took the plunge and purchased a slightly used 06' screamin eagle, (CVO), V-Rod. This is my 3rd bike, (03' Roadglide and 2000 Bourget lowblow). I am quite impressed with it. It is as smooth as a *** bike with gobs of power. I've owned the Bourget since it was new and at the ripe old age of 44 it's becoming tough to ride. The V-Rod is my new bar hopper.

i hav a v rod
I've been riding since I waz 16, 37 years ago. After 4 hondas prior to 1987 I got the heritage model I just sold it 2 years ago last Aug. with 26k on it & 2 engine overhauls, I bought an 06 roadking in Sep. of 05, but always had a fancy for the v rod since "the birth of the v rod" was shown on T V. Only thing was, the gas tank was too small. So when the night rod special showed up for 07 with the 5 gal. tank I was back at the dealer, traded my roadking in with 11k on it and they traded me even for the v rod. I now have over 7k on it and enjoy the way it performs and with the sundowner seat & reduced reach handle bars I'm very comfy!! I'm also a member of the 1130cc.com forum. Ed

I do wish my 06 Night-Rod had the 5 gallon tank, but the Sundowner seat really makes it nice to ride!
The best part about the V-Rod's is what can be done to it after you get it home from the dealer!
I took my bike to Nick Trask last month for a one of his Turbo Systems, talk about fun to ride!!! I really don't need a second bike now, this one does it all for me. The only bad thing is everything else feels very slow now!

I bought the new VROD 2008 (VRSAW) black with some skull collection.
This is my second bike after the Sproster custom 2006.
I love my VROD, it's really fast and suite my riding style, specially after i tested drive a ROADKING classic 2008 which is nice and big but the vibration was too much comparing with the VROD family, and that's because of the PUSH RODS in the all Harley models except the VROD.
Any how I love this PORSCHE engineering in the VROD with 1250cc, 240mm fat tire, 5.0 GL, 125 HP, and a lot more...

some FYI, I was an airhead and still love'm, but ever since the show "birth of the v rod" I really liked its looks, but not the gas tank thing! To small. I owned a 1987 Heritage till it had 126k on it, a 2006 Roadking and when the night rod appeared i went to my dealer, traded in the roadking and got the night rod special. Nothing against all the others because I love'm all, BUT, the v rod is a blast to ride and making it your own to fit you, you'll enjoy it till it dies. My 2 cents
