cam plates on 07's

Has anyone heard of a problem with the 07 cam plates wearing prematurely? I was told that this is a current problem with the 07 big twins and that they basically in the infinite wisdom removed the bearings from these plates and now they run in a machined area in the plate itself. Any takers? I haven't seen an issue but its a concern as when the warranty runs out I am sure it will cost me.

to the forum. Take a moment and introduce yourself in the "My Story-The Beginnings" forum. Tons of useful, and sometimes useless info here. Grab a six pack and be prepared to read for a while!!

We're practically neighbors. I'm up in Tuftonboro. I understand there is a new stealership being built in Rochester on Rt. 11. I haven't been by yet. Do you know who is building it? Perhaps owned by another instate dealer?

See you around.

Bob

yes I do know who is building the dealership it is Seacoast HD. You should go by the building is up and weather tight. Pavement is down but the open is this spring. It will be nice for me because it is either to N. Hampton or up to Meredith to buy parts.

pittguy I was told that it was specifically the cam plates. do you think that this is actually what the problem is? is the pump failing causing a lack of oil to the cams?

Thats good to know, cause I would much rather give my money to Seacoast than Meredith any day!!

One member here with a RK had oil pump go out. They ended up replacing engine.Other one I heard of was pump related but didnt have engine replaced. And one guy had his whole bike replaced due to faulty buildup. That bike as very new.I believe he had his own shop-independent-and found this on his own.Nothing yet on the plate.

Before I bought my bike, I saw it at Meredith HD. I was in the market for a leather jacket. I went in with a fistful of cash to buy the jacket, the girl said come back in 2 weeks there will be a sale. So I did. Found the jacket and they had covered up the pricetag with a marked up sticker. I figured if that is how they want to do business, they will get none of mine. I walked out, went to Heitage HD in Concord. They didn't have the same jacket. But they did have that same bike coming in on the next order. I plunked my fistful of cash down on the bike right there.
Heritage got my business. Phuck Meredith. I only go there for parts I need now. I look forward to the new dealership in Rochester.

that does sound a little fishy. But I am sure it happens more often then we would like to know. Well hopefully you will find a good dealership.
