Bought a BushTec

After months of research, looking at web pages, reading all the fud I could find on trailer, even visiting a factory in Illinois, I bought a BushTec at Sturgis this week...

First thoughts. WoW!!! What customer service! John and Andy went out of their way to make sure I knew every small detail about the trailer. The maintance, the towing and so on. Made me, not suggested, made me watch a DVD on all aspects of their trailer (popcorn machine was broken so didn't get any while watching the movie) and then after hooking up the trailer they walked me thru it again, making me do it first hand!!!

I had looked at several different trailer at different vendors while there before deciding on BushTec. One fellow told me he'd hook the trailer up for me if I had a trailer hitch and would forward me information on the trailer when they got back to their factory. Maybe that was the reason I was so blown over with John and Andy's way of do'n things.

AND the trailer (bought the RoadStar) towed like a dream. AND to repeat, you forget it's back there! Checked my mileage back from Sturgis to Texas and I lost about 1 1/2 mile per gallon over the 1100 miles.

LoL!! When I was packing to leave my camp site and remembering the hours I've spent compressing tents, bedrolls and such to fit on my Ultra.....this year I rolled up the bedroll, tent and was shooting 3 pointers into the trailer. Damn what a pleasure !!!!!

Recommend BushTec... Yep!!!

Welcome to the famliy. I too own a bushtec, can not tell you how much I love it, man sure makes packing easier. Pulls like a dream and just love that "hidden" hitch.

I'll post a couple pics when I get un-packed.

I installed a Kuryakyn hitch on my bike back in July before taking a 6500 mile ride with friends from Chicago. Installed the hitch hoping that I'd find a trailer on the ride...thus could take it with me and not have to go back and pick it up. It was a standard ball type hitch. The BushTec uses a heim-end type hitch and the ball hitch won't work. BushTec did the wiring on my bike and installed their equivalent of an heim-end adapter replacing the ball. Worked GREAT!!

I have had a Roadstar for about 4 years. I have taken it to the factory twice for minor adjustments and there has never been any charge. Great people to do business with.
You are right about not knowing it is back there. I have to check my mirrors every once and a while to be sure. Can still drag the floor boards too!

I will confess that I hadn't been home a day until I started making modifications to my trailer. Was home 30 minutes when one of my Yamaha riding buddies stopped by and started making comments about me towing a Yamaha trailer. RoadStar script came off!

I'm getting ready to replace the standard Harley tail lights with the newer bullet style I have on my Ultra.

Also had Harley patches sewn on at Sturgis. Figured that would be best place to get it done.

But you know what? You will still spend a bunch of time packing, cause now you will be taking 10 times the stuff.

Oh-h-h-h, I hear ya.

Girl friend has already been out there figuring/measuring just how much she could pack. She informed me that she could pack enough for 5 days. AND had the nerve to ask if there was anyway to wire in a plug for her iGo charging system for her phone and laptop.

Looks like I'm back to compressing my stuff to fit on my Ultra.

Great Pictures! As far as taking twice or ten times the stuff. You are correct! When you travel two-up yr round you have to allow for the four seasons. The early am when it's 32 degrees and will climb to 50 by noon. Break out the 'lectrics that you couldn't pack before. or that extra light jacket you have 12 of at home because you needed to buy one everytime you when out and got hot.

Once you get the trailer you will have lots of new friends when you make a lunch stop everyone will wnat to store their helmet or other stuf while then eat lunch or to keep it dry when its raining.

Enjoy your new trailer it looks great- I use my bushtec behind both rides just because I can

In Anticipation..

Texan,

On my way to Americade to pick up my '07 Bushtec Quantum from John & Andy. Like others, did a sh_tload of research and recognize these guys define excellence in what they do. Mine is a custom color-matched, Concord Purple, to my '00 FLHRI.

Will be using it for my first long distance trip with my wife at the end of July to Asheville, NC via Skyline Drive and BRP.

My wife allocated my stuff to one side bag. The Bushtec is for HER stuff!

Will post pics when I get the unit.

Also, the bike's tag is "YOLO" (You Only Live Once) and the trailer will be
"YOLO T".

LoL!! Have a good friend here in TEXAS that bought trailer (not a Bushtec, his problem not mine) that has a personalized license tag "Her Stuff". Would love to get it but here again he's also here in TEXAS so I can't. Have been wanting him to change his tag but won't.

Have fun and you're going to LOVE your trailer. You made an excellent choice. Tell John, Andy and the gang "HI" for me from Texas.

The license on my trailer is "OURSTUFF" and the chrome frame around it says "MOSTLY HERS". It's a kick when cars pass us with the wife in the passenger seat laughing her head off.
Question about Bushtecs? What do you do if you have a tire fail on a trip? I can get one in any Walmart or tire store.
Riding with friends,
