2007 power true/false
I was told today that because of the emission restictions on the 07 models, that the 96" engine only puts 2 more hp to the wheel than the 06 88". Has anyone else heard this? I wonder because the dealer told me they already have alot of people trading up from 05 and 06.

Local shop dynoed some. A little more torque and ZERO more horsepower.

I have a new 07 Road Glide, and there is quite a bit more power thoughout the powerband. I am really happy with the new motor so far. I just traded in my 06 Road Glide with 1500 miles (stock) for this new beast. I went from a stock 06 to a stock 07 and the difference is substancial IMHO.

Gee- let's see going from 1450 TO 1585 cc, Yeah that better make a difference. Right now you are at the year 1988 in motor displacement enjoy

Could different gearing be making the difference. Some say going to 3.37 gearing makes a world of difference on an pre '07 bike. The 6 speed along with a gearing change may make the '07 seem faster.
A post I copied last year.
"So having been planning it for a while, the planets finally aligned in such a way as to actually allow me to perform the primary gear change I hear everyone raving about--commonly referred to as "3.37 gearing."
At any rate, last night I removed the stock 25-tooth compensating sprocket and 36-tooth clutch basket, and installed 24-tooth and 37-tooth replacements. The result? The primary gear reduction has been changed from 1.44:1 to 1.54:1 (3.37:1 final drive ratio as compared to 3.15:1, stock).
Wow. The perfomance of the bike has really changed. I don't notice any objectionable RPM increase--not even on the highway--but the torque multiplication from the increased mechanical advantage is VERY noticeable. Acceleration is "hell yeah!" fast, and the bike feels more like it effortlessly responds to right-hand input than before. Indeed, this feels like it is the "correct" gearing for the bike--whereas the stock gearing felt a little tall.
The debate over whether an overdrive 6-speed is called for will doubtlessly continue. But it is not "needed" as a result of the primary gearing swap, IMHO.
Thanks to Doc, MegaGlide and others for their advice. This is a kick-ass mod."

The new 6 speed is lower gearing all around, with the 6th being a 1:1. It's not an overdrive 6th. Thats where you feel the "substancial" increase in acceleration.

The overall gearing on the 6 speed '07 models is higher (lower numerically) than a 5 speed in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. You certainly wouldn't feel any better acceleration there.
The transmission ratios are lower all around, but the primary and secondary ratios are higher.
overall.....1st.......2nd.....3rd.....4th......5th .....6th
6 speed: 9.3120, 6.421, 4.775, 3.926, 3.278, 2.79
5 speed: 10.112, 6.958, 4.952, 3.862, 3.150, n/a

I actually sold it private party, so I did ok. I road again all day with my buddy that has a 2006 stock RG with about 2k miles on it. I let him ride my bike because I was smiling so much and just could not be happier with the torque on this thing...he had to see for himself. When he got off and we switch back, he said the same thing I did it is a very noticabe difference in power. He agreed that the power differece is well worth the $1500 you will pay over an 06 mark down model. This is my 8th harley in 2 years and might finally be the last. This bike finally has the power I need to start with. I had a 2005 Big dog with a S&S 107", so I do know what power feels like.

Actually, closer to $3000 difference around here.
A good builder can take a stock 88 and make you see God for the difference in what you'll get for an '05-'06 trade-in and what you'll pay for an '07.

No offense but maybe you should do a little research first. Unless you own a dealership or light cigars with ten dollar bills you are crazy (I am not a doctor so not a professional opinion just an observation). On the otherhand it is your $ so it is none of my business so sorry if I offended you.
