BIGDOG_K9 is on a distinguished road
If I remember correctly, the sensor looks like a solid white square sensor -
a little bit bigger than a sugar cube - behind the front fairing.

Moving it away from the headlight is supposed to reduce the "higher than actual" temperature reading.

This isn't the "fix" I was thinking, but I may be all wet, I thought it relocated the senser around the air cleaner area so you read the air temp going in the motor, like I said I could be way out of line and had a brain fart??????????? LOL

Exclamation old shovel

Well folks anyone out there have any vibration problems with there 07 street glide seems they redesigned the compensator ,welded all together,use to be 2 pieces,well to make it short vibrates your eye balls out when you go to 6th gear,carried to shop,there were 5 people standing there when I drove up ,the harley shop changed the compensator and chain tensioner,80 % better but still has a little they said there is about 3 other things it could be,its diff.style bikes too there was 3 diff.styles there all with 96" motor and 6th speed tranny,other than that just installed k&n breather kit,superflow pipes and power commander runs like a whole diff.machine,haven't done any motor work yet running out to calf. in may will try it out and go from there.Rode shovel for 17 yrs in a ridgid frame,8 yrs on a 7474,and about a year on an old sportster.traded my road king of 7 yrs in for SG,was really dissappointed at first but life gets better! If they don't get it fixed soon will get another road king but ride alot in the winter and the bat wing fairing really helps in when it gets in the low teens.............

Is there a recall or someting on the compensator.
How to get more information on this problem?
And why in 6th gear only?

The vibration issue is reported ONLY in 6th gear. That seems strange to me.
If there is an imbalance in the power train why would it show up only in
6th gear?

Could this be lugging misunderstood for inherent vibration?

This is new to me I had an '07 Fatboy and now an '07 SG and haven't had any problems. If anything my bike seems smoother in 6th. Still under a 1000 miles on it though so maybe that might change.

Well guys i'm with u about why in 6th gear only,but rode pretty smooth until shifted into 6th rode like my old shovel couldn't see out the mirrors,vibration went thru the hand grips and the foot pegs I myself thought it was a transmission issue,but there was 5 othere bikes there at the same time with the 96 motor and 6 speed tranny,they changed the compensator and chain tensioner it took it all out on the others ,about 80% on mine and I have seen no recall on this it was simply a drive in and complain and took care of it thing thru harley factory rep.myself I still have some vibration problems in the 2000 rpm range in all gears,and still increasing in 6th ,I still can't swallow the fact that something id not wrong with the machine work on this newly designed tranny,vibration is vibration,yes it surges quite a bit if not up to speed going into 6th too soon,I sold my road king to get this really not happy ,my friend bought his at the same time his rides like it was suppose too! Night and day!Harley says its very isolated with a bad batch of the compensators & tensioners,well I'm not convinced the vibration has got me where I will not even shift to 6th any more till its fixed RIGHT!

That brings up an interesing point, (at least to me) I felt the same thing happen when I bought my new, at the time 1999 EG, everytime I shifted into 5th gear I felt my head vibrate, enough to blur my vision. No other gear but 5th and at any RPM, I keep the RPMs at 2500 minimum. The dealer didn't know what I was talking about. So I finally figured right or wrong that it was the helmet since I grew up in a non helmet state but now live in a helmet state and am just not used to wearing one. It seems as soon as I cross over into Idaho and take off the helmet the issue goes away. I bought an '07 SG (which I cannot believe how much nicer it is than my '99 EG and I loved the EG) on the way home from the dealer I shifted into 6th and bam the blurred vision was back. All this time I thought it was me.

Talking old shovel

Seems theirs always comments from vibrating heads in the peanut gallery,life goes on like I always say take a flu shot and the flu will stay away same with rubs,times sure has changed since the sixties,people are allowed to voice there opinion now !Talking about the world of motorcycles in these forums you meet all kinds,whether you want to are not but its all good! That's what makes it so interesting anyway,got the power commander on the true duals,k&n breather kit sweet! Still have vibration issues they have a couple in the shop now there having problems with from twisting off the starter shaft to vibration issues there working on,5 out maybe 50 bikes with the problem there thinking it was some machining isssues,there keeping me informed with the progress of the bikes in the shop!I rode a ridgid frame for 2 yrs on one bike and 17 yrs on another vibration yes I have skill 3 shovel heads,2 flatheads later still going till they put in the worm box.

Hello all,
I just got my 07 steet glide back with new reinhart tru duals, sert, and stage 2 big sucker. It is zero here in Maineville OHIO but I could not help it I had to take it for a spin what a difference. The DYNOJET EVALUATION was as follows.

1) Base line was Max Power=67.50 and Max Torque=82.16

2) After toys Max Power=76.05 and Max Torque=87.78

Not bad for no motor work I will do motor work next christmas.

It is getting closer for me to take the big jump. You went through with it and switched bikes. If I may ask what finally made you change your mind. You had a nice FB. Let me know what you think about the SG...

Lightbulb old shovel

Well after changing the compensator and the chain tensioner on my 07SG it took out 80% 0f the vibration problem carried it to harley 4 times first 2 times nothing wrong,3rd time 5 people showed up with 3 diff.type 96" 6 speeds w/exact problem,road king, ultra classic, and SG needless to say they fixed 3 out of 5 with above parts,4th time they said nothing wrong ,well I usually do my own wrenching ,there hasn't been many bolts i've found yet that were torked to specs,matter a fact I hit the nail on the head when I found the top motor mount loose,now it is smooth as it should have been in the beginning,i've only been snake bit since the beginning,but with parts changed and everything tight enough now,the bike is mod.to my needs now,now head out to calf.in june for a little 5500 mile trip,once a year forever I wish,now a satisfied customer self made.

just traded my 04 fatboy with a 88 in. for a 07 street glide with a 103 motor.
I've only put a few miles on it, too cold and windy yesterday. it has more vibration at idle than my fatboy did, is this normal?

P.S. test rode a 96in SG and another 103in SG both had the same vibration.
