Well, I bought the c.b. module, the "non-ultra overlay wiring harness",(talk about an expensive bunch of wires), had to order the console pod assembly,(for the '08 - 6 gal. tank), & like you said, the switches are all ready on the bike, got the hand-held mike kit, still need the antenna cable for my tour pak mount, than it's time to pull the outer fairing off again,(there's nothing worse than trying to put it back on again). The wiring harness looks kinda scary, but I'll see what happens! Thanks to everybody for their input!

Hi Oldog
The wiring is no problem, you can't go wrong, its male-female connector blocks and for the windshield, remove the front light, first the plastic cover and then pinch the green clips to undo them.
Now you can see where the fairing hooks on and you can readily connect your light wires. After, you press the light in place making sure the green tabs line up with the holes. Plastic cover back in place, the screws and remount the blinkers.
Hope you can go for a ride, here winter has set in, its ski time.
Yves

Scott,
Congrats on the new RG. Ya didn't say what color though. The upgrades sound nice as well. I'm generally torn on wheel upgrades on a touring bike since so little is visible but going w/ the chrome will ad some sparkle.
For the exhaust, the Reinhardts have that tip that tends to discolor and I know a lot of people have an issue with that. Generally, I've heard that the SE slip ons give the best bang for the buck.

I have an 05 and am thinking of uping my wheels to 18", has anyone done this? Does it change the ride quality much? I do a lot of long trips and don't want to be rattled on crappy roads.

Put 18" Renegade Ledgend Series Wheels on my 04 RG when the bike was brand new (70 miles on it) never looked back... Rides and handles better than my other bike with 16" wheels and tires IMHO...
Metzler's front & rear 18X70X140 front with 18X70X150 rear...

New RG
I purchased a new 09 RG last month and am still in the first 1K mile window (we do not have good riding weather right now). My question is at the 1K service should I change to the Synthetic oil? And, if so, what's the best brand? I have seen in the posts that many do not like the SE SYN oil that the dealer will have. If I don't use the SE SYN will I void my warranty?

GD answered your question nicely however it's all preference.
It's like asking if everyone likes Blonds or Brunettes? Silicone enhanced or natural? It's all preference. One persons "ideal" is anothers "no way".
Personally I just had my 1k service 3 weeks ago and I had the Syn3 put in the gearbox and primary. I had Dino put in the crank. I'm going to be changing to synthetic something when I start doing my own service in a couple of months (Mobil 1 if I can find it).
As long as you chose a quality lubricant, regular service is more important than Dino or Synthetic.

SE Hi output starter?
Hello all, I'm expecting my new baby (2009 Road Glide) next week and am looking forward to riding the first thing in the new year.
I noticed some added equipment others have and was wondering what the SE Hi output starter was? What's its purpose, and do I need it on my new 2009 bike and any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated...
Should I also by the Stage 1 Breather kit...is it okay and what about the modules for them... are they reliable...the last thing I want is electrical problems...
Thanks
rdglider

I have a high output starter (chrome). My bike has SE heads, SE High compression pistons 10.5:1, a wild cam, and compression releases... more stuff in the signature. I also added an Odessey battery that has over 900Amp cranking ability. This would be major overkill for a normal compression engine.

bikes modified with aftermarket high-compresson pistons/heads are much harder to turn over when starting. The hi output starters are made stronger to spin these engines.
