Jams, how do these feel compared to the stock bars? I am doing just a little too much reaching for the stock bars and want to change them out. I have looked at the wildone RG replacements and those are pretty pricey, but I do need to do something and these may just be a better alternative at a much better price!
Did you have to do anything with the stock cables etc. ?

I am 5'9" and with the stock bars and windsheild I was straining my eyes to look through the shield because I am to short to look over the top with out stretching my neck. These bars let me sit up straighter so I could see over the shield with no more reaching for the bars. They turned my wrists to a more comfortable angle and gave me more turning leverage.
The original cables and hardware switched right over. The only modification I had to do was the plastic cover between the fairing and the neck I had to take a rat tail file to make a groove about 3/4" inches long in the plastic for the clutch cable to fit so it would not be bound up so tight.
The price of the bars was cheaper than a new seat that would move me closer or cheaper than the shorty windshield which I did buy later on anyway.

Thanks for the info Jams.
I went down to the local dealer at lunch today and was checking out the bars. I sat on a RG on the floor and noticed they had the bars in a more comfortable position than they are on my bike.
It would appear that someone with long arms put my bike together so I am going to just adjust them back some and see how that goes. It sure felt a lot better on the floor than mine did!
Plus that saves me from the hassle of figuring out how to get the left grip off and onto a new set of bars.

I would be willing to wager that the MoCo has done studies that tell them that the average rider is so tall and has so much reach and when standing up their butt is so high off the ground. Then they design bikes so all these average riders need new handlebars, shorter windshields and stiffer shocks.

Rear fender medallion
Hey,
I got a question.
On the bottom of the rear fender there is a Harley shield and bar medallion.
I'd like to remove it.
Do any of you know how its mounted and or taken it off?
If you feel up and behind the medallion there is a mounting bolt for a fender strut. I'm not sure that has anything to do with the medallion. It may just be stuck on with adhesive, I'm not sure but it could be both.
I'll just wait for the answers to come rolling in like the tide.
Thanks

wire harness for rear speakers = ouch
Just visited the local dealer and found out that since my RG is an 02 it probably does not have the rear speaker wire harness. Evidently some 02's came from the factory this way ans some did not. I was givin a price of $270 for the harness and told that I had to plug it in to the back of the deck (remove fairing) remove tank and run this harness on the backbone of the frame under the seat. This sucks as I am not incredibly mechanicly inclined and it kind of scares me plus That is a alot of money for a harness. Can anyone confirm this to be correct or is the dealer trying to sock it to me. I only briefly had my seat off since I just purchased the bike but I did find one small plug under there. I believe that it is a swithed 10 volt source powered by my ACC switch to power my lights on my quick detach. Is this correct? Can this be used for the speakers?
Does anyone have any better fixes or at least less expensive as the little lady wants speakers to!
Part of my justification to get the boss to let me buy this bike was the fact that it already had the quick detach tour pack and speakers that I would not have to buy them, and that she could jam along with me.
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,
Q

Man you have to get the tunes from the output source your (radio/cd player) to your speakers. It is not just a power source that you need. If the bike does not have the harness running from the back of the deck to under the seat already then what they suggest is the way to go. To do this cheaper you can try to find a local independent shop with lower rates per hour or a trusted friend who wrenches on bikes and you trust to touch your ride who might do it for even less.
Or forget the speakers buy an Ipod Nano and let her jam to her own tunes.

That is funny that is the first thing my mother in law asked my wife when she saw my bike. "wow it even has AC" referring to the ACC switch button with my wife replying "ya mom it also has autopilot and take me home I'm drunk mode" it was quite funny
I realize that it needs an output for the rear speakers I am not sure why I typed that I was just thinking out loud i guess. Hoping that there wAS an better solutuion. I also ment 12 volt not 10. I just do not understand why the did not put this harness on from the factory in 02. I am an electrical engineer though so I supposs I could probably make my own harness. I was wondering if I could maybe just fish the harness through the fairing and under the dash on the tank and under the seat as I have seen a couple of wires under there already. For some reason removing the tank makes me nervous and knowing me it would end up scratched or dented. Kinda clumbsy.
Thanks for educating the newbie.

If they supplied the harness on the bike they couldn't get $270 out of you. Seriously, the Roadglide doesn't come with a tourpak so there is no reason to have a harness for speakers. Guess my first statement applies after all.

Point well taken! I guess the harley tax is kind like the energizer bunny! I was referring to my luck and chosing what the dealer told me was the only year that it was not standard on.
