Well the CV made it here, its on the bike and looks good. Will spend the next 5 days test riding to see how it preforms. Heading out in the morning. Its been so nice here for a couple weeks, now looking like rain for the next few days, figures huh!

Great to see it arrived OK! Did yours have the narrowed sides to allow clearance for the mirrors? Have a great trip - post some pics when you get back!

Couple hours before we leave so here ya go. Yes its alittle narrower on the sides. I got the tint too, it looks good, looks tall but I think I will get over it, I took it out for a quick ride but the wind was blowin about 30mph yesterday afternoon, hard to tell what its really like. Still pretty breezy this morning with some really dark looking clouds out there, 52deg....No dout we will run into rain on the first 300 mile leg today. I'am thinking I might pull out the long handles for this morning!
Heres some pics, first one is the stock shield I was dealing with, you can see how low it was. Even with the Corbin seat I can still juuuust look over the top of the CV.

Well it certainly looks good - the narrower sides give it an attractive appearance. It will be interesting to see how it performs. Mine is due in the next couple of weeks and I am eager to put it out on the road.
Have a great trip!

Any comments? I am not sure why so many posts about the width of the clearview and nothing on this?

You're going to have to be a bit more specific there Vidro.

That's funny to me, the first thing I did was LOWER both the front and the rear of the heel/toe. I never put a toe under on any bagger I've had!
Maybe it's just me....

I found my elbows got sore with the reach of the stock bars and my ass got real sore after an hour on the seat. I replaced the bars with Heritage bars and they are GREAT! A little lower and closer to me so no more extended arms that create elbow pain. I added the Sundowner seat and that seems to really make for a comfortable ride. The problem I now have is I am back to the wind buffering issue again and am not sure why as the Sundowner is not supposed to be a higher seat.
Has anyone went with this combination? Does anyone have an idea of what shield I could use? I am thinking that the Clearview 2" might be better, but when I move up and down on the bike and try different heights, it does not seem to matter as I am still getting that old buffering.
Any feedback that could help me solve this final piece would be appreciated.

I feel your pain (wind).
I am 6'3" 34 inseam. I changed the stock 12" windshield with a 14" Clearview with the recurve. I moved the pressure edge from my nose to the top of the helmet. I was a happy camper.
I replaced the stock seat with a HD Tallboy seat which is about 2" higher. It allowed my legs to stretch out a bit more and especially with the highway pegs. My butt liked it a lot too.
Unfortunately, I am back into the airstream similar to the original situation. Last weekend, I tried going back to the old seat... no way... I felt like a grasshopper ready to jump.
I am planning to order a new clearview. My debate is what size. With a taller shield, I don't want the recurve. With the stock seat and the 14" recurve, I could look over it for most purposes. If it is to be taller, I don't want to be looking through a recurve because of the distortion. Clearview says the recurve is equivalent to an additional 2". I am not so certain but it would piss me off to buy a 16" or 17" and find that it isn't enough.
I added an air baffle which I didn't have. I will be installing Hogg Chopps Lowers as soon as they come in. I will wait on the CV until I have some freeway time with the lowers on. Everything that modifies the air flow can influence the buffeting effect.
When you think about the screen sizes, keep in mind that mine is an 03. In 04 they changed the fairing angle so 03 back windshield sizes don't correlate with the 04+ sizes.

I was following up to my post #1500 (on page 100) that I did not receive any feedback on. I did get one response from gbinman and I very much appreciate it.
I still am looking for answers.

Ah, that post
My guess is that when you changed bars you changed body positions and moved back just a little. Enough to get back into the buffet zone.
I'm running the Clearview +2 and sundowner. I'm going to go to a custom seat soon. I'm still uncomfortable after a couple hours in the saddle, much better than the stock which was a 100 miler.
One thing I found was that running in too high a gear (under 2500 RPM) will cause additional buffeting. It's the vibration in the fairing/windshield causing the airflow to buffet in the helmet area. I quit using 6th gear unless I'm over 70 mph (or going down hill).
Just for refrence I'm just under 6'3" and 230 lbs with long arms.

I made it home from the road!
I must say the CV+2 was way better than stock, I have a Corbin duel tourer seat and the CV shield made a huge difference. I still get alittle wind on higher speeds but overall a change for the better.
I have always noticed an updraft from below the fairing and above the crash bar area, the wind must be coming from the under/side of fairing and curling up into my face. It would be nice to have a small piece to bolt to the crash bar to deflect this wind also, that would eliminate everything that is left buffeting wise.

I'll take another shot though I don't think a definitive answer is truly possible with the variance in bikes and bodies... not to mention personal preferences.
My present setup... even with the tallboy seat undoing some of the benefit of the +2 clearview with recurve, is really satisfactory. Over the July 4th weekend I participated in a 3000 mile ride, Texas, NM, CO, UT, AZ (Grand Canyon) and then home. Much was at high speed... there were highways that were posted 80 and our group generally fudged 5 over posted. The longest days were almost 600 per day. Most of the trip was hot but rain was encountered several times, including hail a few times. I was generally satisfied overall with the windshield performance.
In full disclosure, I am 58. Even though I consider myself younger physically and certainly mentally, I am not young and dumb... I enjoy comforts and pleasures. If I was taking a beating, I would say so.
I also know that my configuration can be improved and am not concerned about the cost of experimenting. I rode with "pseudo lowers" that were made by one my local chapter members out an old EG windshield. They are roughly triangular pieces of polycarbonate that are zip tied to the engine guards. They were sufficient to make me want lower fairings. I ordered a pair of Hogg Chopps Lowers (much less expensive than HDs and I like their styling better too) that I expect to receive this week.
I will be calling Clearview to discuss increasing my windshield oversize... 16 or 17 without the recurve most likely.
Back to the original point... my Clearview was a significant improvement over the stock shield. I would still be happy with it if I hadn't changed my seat. Last week I switched the old seat back to see if I imagined liking the tallboy. I rode about 10 miles and immediately switched back to the tallboy seat. Message... adjust your seat if needed first. I wish I could offer you my old CV but you have a newer RG (04+) that has the different fairing angle.
Sorry Vidro, I wish I could answer your question.

Thank you for the feedback. I am going to send my factory seat to Mean City and have the foam/ gel put in and go back to that. If I adds to the comfort as people say, I should be back to normal height with the comfort I am looking for. By the way, the Heritage bars really give my elbows a break. I do not have to reach out nearly as far and love the comfort.

Vidro,
I have been pretty happy with RG bars... I will have to look into the Heritage bars as I have seen a number of posts where that swap has been made.
As I have said, I am happy with my configuration but am open to making it better.
