Cruise control ready?

So I went throught with it, I'm now the proud owner of a 2000 Road Glide that I thought had cruise control on it. I tried the cruise on the way home, to no avail. I thought I was doing something wrong, so when I got home i whipped out the trusty owners manual. I found out that the Road Glides of that year are what H-D considers "Cruise Control Ready." What I wonder is that since I have the swith on the forks, and the set/resume/accel button on the right handgrip, what else do I need to add to take my bike from "Cruise Control Ready" to "Cruisin" ?? Thanks in advance.

My guess is that it's ready for you to spend some money. It will likely fit right in. The cruise servo unit fits under the left side cover below the seat and likely plugs in to your existing wiring setup. A control cable runs to the EFI or carb. If there is a kit, it will generally have full instructions for installation or you could save up and pay the dealer to do it.

I think the setup is close to $400...........

The entire kit from HD is $339.95. It usually includes the necessary right hand instrument pod. I would pull the L side cover, see if the cruise module is there. If so, follow the cable from under the backbone, under the tank, curves between the jugs, and hooks into the throttle cam. It may already be there but d/c'd from the carb/EFI. Check it out and let us know!!!

It's less expensive than I thought then. I would bet the cruise module is not on board, though. I agree, he should let us know.......

I think it's wild they put in the switches but not the unit. That's cruel IMO. Oh well, at least the wirings already there. You'll like the cruise BTW, works great.
