Garmin 26/2700 Questions

I just got a SP2720. I already had a RAM mount that I used for my old Garmin III+. All I needed was the actual SP26/2700 series cradle. I got it but when I went to secure the GPS to the bike I couldn't figure out how to do it. How do you attach a lanyard to the Garmin? The Garmin III+ cradle fit very tight to the cradle and was lighter so I didn't always secure the lanyard to the bike but with the SP, which is heavier and the cradle isn't near as secure a fit, I really would rather ALWAYS have the GPS secured to the bike. How do you 26/2700 owners do it? I don't see where to attach a lanyard to the unit???

Also, I'm using the supplied 12v cigarette lighter adapter but the adapter is so big because of the built in speaker that it actually hits the tank when the handle bars are turned to the left all the way. Not that I'll hit it while riding but parked it is a different story. Short of hard wiring the unit, how do you deal with this?
