Thumbs up My first Ultra Classic, DAMN!

Okay, so I was tired of the fatboy ride but didn't want to part with it. So I looked around and just fooling around made an offer at a dealer in San Diego. He took it! Put on 1300 miles in 5 days. Here's what I discovered. This bike handles like a race car. I mean it really rides great. The ride is just what you would expect from the top of the line, perfect. The seat could use a little attention but it's been a great week. Took it to the Laughlin run and had a great ride. So now I am looking for some pipes so it will sound like a Harley. Any suggestions? If your on the fence about getting one of these bad boys,do your butt, back, legs and lady a favor, do it! Now it's off to the chrome doctor..Update, did a stage one, and went with the Vance an Hines slip on mufflers slash cuts. SE air filter and the dealer did a computer re-map. Changed out the brake pedal and went with a single shifter with flame running boards. Ordered a set of Hog Tunes and tossed on some chrome covers for the bags and put on the chrome ring gauges. She looking beter and now runs like a HD and really sounds great!

Just left you a message on the exhaust question in the other forum ... good move on that trade, once you go touring, it's hard to even think of going back on the softail....although I did cruise around on the Deuce today. It's funny, after driving the Ultra around for awhile, the Deuce feels like a scooter.

Congrats on the Ultra, a very wise choice!

Congrats dude, now comes the chrome bucks! I stayed away from buying stuff for mine until I had a chance to spend about a month on her, especially with the pipes. I listened to nearly all of them before I purchased the V&H Ovals.

I rode a couple smaller Suzuki's starting out (500&750cc)...but when I jumped to Harley, I knew the Electra Glide Standard was the best deal for me. I have been soooo happy with my glide; and it just keeps getting re-affirmed when someone posts a thread like yours Coda....I made the right choice for me first time out.

It's nothing but baggers for me I'm afraid

I purchased my ultra about 3 weeks ago and had the Vance & Hines Ovals installed. They sound fantastic. I had done quite a bit of research and listened to many different pipes before I settled on the ovals. And they look great on the Ultra.

Just order those pipes on line this morning. Changed out the shift lever and extended brake pedal. Looking at stage 1 air filters now and learning more about the power commander unit. I just knew thins would happen. Time to refi the house for ad ons and goodies! I just finshed my fat boy (added a lot of $$$) but now I wish I would have waited for the classic. Funny, when I got the fatbot a few years ago my frineds asked me why I didn't get a rolling sofa. I told them I would never be caught dead on a rolling sofa. Okay, so you caught me!

Coda, everything sounds good so far, and it looks like you are enjoying the bike, but please, please don't re-fi the house and plow the dough in the bike.

Everyone will do what they do, it's only my opinion ...

I've done the same thing with my lowrider but I'm trying to keep from spending the money to buy a classic or ultra. I stopped in the dealership at luncy and had to pry myself away.

Cool update

Just completed a stage 1. Installed the SE air filter and the Vance & Hines slash cut slip on mufflers. This took about 10 minutes. Perfect fit. And now it sounds like a HARLEY. Changed out the toe heel shifter and extended the brake pedal. Tossed on the chrome ring inserts on the gages and installed fairing mirrors. Will take it to the dealer Sat. for a remap and the 1000 mile service. The pipes sounds great, with a low rumble and some rock and roll. :2flips:

Just picked up my 05 Ultra 3 weeks ago. A different ride than my 92 Fatgoy.I just installed Wildpig slip on pipes. For 144.00 + 20.00 shipping, you can't beat the price or sound. I have seen them for sell on this forum, I bought mine on ebay. Tom

Congrats on the new bike. Once you go bagger you won't ever go back. I bought mine in Feb. of 04 and have 16,000mi on her now. I am leaving first thing in AM for NV, UT, AZ. I have a week off work so what the hell.
I did the stage 1 with Ness Big Sucker V&H duals, Bassani slip ons and also added a DFO. Bike runs great now. I was going to go 95" but I am going to do my best to wear out this top end first.
