Replacing Speakers on Road Glide

I will be replacing stock speakers on my 05 RG with some Hog Tunes. Has anyone done this themselves and how complicated is it to remove the faring? Also, is best to remove inner or outer faring to replace speakers. Any and all tips, suggestions or cautions are welcome.

It's a piece of cake. You just need to pull off the outer fairing. Not hard but I would suggest getting the service manual. Chicago Harley has a 20% off sale until the end of the month. http://www.chicagoharley.com/

its fairly easy .thereis 6 allen head screws on the inside fairing remove those. remove the windshied, take off the front 2 turn signals. piece of advice put a protective cover on the front fender to keep the outer fairing from hitting it. after all is loose u want to grab the outer fairing and lift it straight up. its held on by 2 hooks behind the headlights. disconect the headlights unplug them. remove the speakers and replace. to reassemble take headlight completely out and place the outer fairing back on with the headlights out u can see where it hooks on .put headlights back on and then reverse the steps. the first time is allittle intimidating but after the first time its a breeze.probably had mine off 6 times already. never am satisfied . good luck

Important safety tip: On my RG, the screws varied in length and if you put the wrong screw in the wrong hole, it will crack the finish.
