Question Connecting a Garmin GPS Audio to the Stereo

Hello everyone. I'm looking for some advice. I have read thru the many threads in the Forum on the Garmin 2610 GPS unit being used on a motorcycle (I used in on my Ultra without Audio and I am now putting it on my new RG) but I am looking to see if anyone has figured out how to connect the Audio to the stereo on the EGlide/RG?

I have ordered from cycoactive.com their hardwire set with audio plug for the 2610 (the audio plug is a 2.5mm) and will be using the RAM mount from my EGlide. Obviously the H-D stereo has an AUX port and mode and wondered if anyone has purchased a cable to connect the audio plug to the Aux port. If so, where you got it?

The million dollar question: Has anyone figured out a way of getting the audio from the GPS 2610 unit to the Harley Stereo other than via the AUX port? (Kennedy Technology offers a way to do this, but it is via the Ultra's radio and is only via the headset, not the fairing's speakers.) As another member mentioned in their respective post...listening to the stereo in AUX mode and hearing "Turn Left 500 Feet" is less enjoyable than the ideal situation of hearing tunes with the voice prompts coming in.

Thanks for your time and comments.

I have been trying to do this for about 8 months now on my 03 Ultra. I have tried every combination of cable from the 2610 to the aux port that I could find and I even tried some home made ones. I have talked to MANY people about this and no one has a solution. I have found only 2 ways to do it and neither is satisfactory.
First you can disconnect one of your speakers from the factory radio and hook your Garmin directly to that speaker. That way you have 3 radio speakers and one GPS speaker. This works fine but I don't like losing the stereo effect and it would be really bad on a Road Glide.
Second you can get an earbud speaker from a cell phone and splice on a 2.5 mm mono audio fitting to plug into the Garmin. I can't hear it well enough to use it this way but it does work. If you turn up the volume on the gps it distorts the sound in the ear bud.
I would think if it was easy to do Kennedy Tech would have done it but they told me that they had no intention of making something for this application
Please post something here if you find a good solution.

Thanks for the response. I do know there is a way to attach the audio, via wire to the Aux port as I saw a vendor doing it on his SE Eglide during a bike show here in Chicago. I chatted with the guy about it and he said he found the cable on the internet but couldn't recall where. It worked great as the voice prompts came out via the stereo's speaker one the AUX mode was selected. So we just got to figure out the cable type/connections issue.

Take care.

I know this is not what you are looking for but it might be an alternative. I was just on the web site below and they have this "new" product. Helmet speakers for the StreetPilot. Don't know what helmet you wear or if you have a StreetPilot but I have room for two of the small speakers side by side and this might give you the result you wanted.

Thanks for this but Cycoactive doesn't have anything for the Garmin 2610. I already talked to them and they weren't much help either.

Getting Close

OK....I just found this on the internet. Though it doesn't provide the audio out the fairing speakers, it does appear to connect the GPS and Stereo Audio into a headset that is useable. Might be interesting:

Take Care, thanks for the time and comments.

I think I have found the solution. I saw a bike today that had tweeter speakers in place of the air temp and voltage guages. I am going to get one tweeter and put it in place of the air temp guage(which is usless anyway) and try that. They guy said that he didn't have to change anything on the inner fairing to install the speaker. After I get the speaker and try it, I will post the make and model if it works.
