Question RK Custom Turn Signal Relocation...

Hey All,

I know someone relocated the turn signals from the handlebars to the forks on their RK Custom, but I can't find the thread using the search function.

I know that HD has a kit for this, but the kit is for relocating them to the passing lamps, which I don't have.

Could you tell me how exactly you moved them?

Thanks!

E

I attached them to the forks using the lower attachment points for the windshield. Just unbolt them from the bottom of the mirrors and use the existing mounting brackets to remount them in the new location. I was able to push the extra wire into the nacelle without any disassembly. The whole operation took 10 minutes.

Unhappy

Thanks for the info, but, that didn't seem to work out too well.

The brackets are asymmetrical, making the lights completely uneven.

I'm going to have to see if I can come up with some nice chrome or billet "L" brackets to make them line up evenly...

Does anyone have any ideas?

I moved the signals on my roadking custom to the lower windshield bolts, but I had to re-thread the signal housings as they are a different thread than the bolts for the windshield. I also had a friend machine two chrome spacers that spaced the signals equally on each side. Here's a pic of them...I've since installed the smoke lens and I really like them now......

The lights are staggered a bit front to back. If you dont point it out, no one seems to notice unless you point it out.

Yeah, I suppose, but it would bother me for sure... The other problem was that the left light was going to hit the crash bar on a tight left turn. Didn't seem to matter how I adjusted it...

Speaking of crash bar, you took your's off, eh DonB? The bike looks good! I've got that same windshield and I hadn't thought about smoked lenses. I'm going to have to think about it now...

Back to relocating the turn signals... I'm surprised that there aren't any after market or HD brackets for relocating these lights... I've searched about every site I can come up with and I haven't been able to find anything that looks like it could work on the lower windshield bolts. I just might have to go DonB's route...
