Screamin' Eagle 6 Speed !!!

I picked up the new 04 Ultra yesterday with the SE 6 speed tranny! This is a no brainer guys! The bike runs awsome! The 6 speed gives you a highway cruising speed of 83-84 mph at 3000 rpm! , 70 mph at 2500 rpm! It's a whole different bike with the 6 speed!
Needless to say I love it!

Question

If I may ask a question: Is 1-5 the same ratio? I understand 6 is an overdrive, but wondered if the ratio is different for 5th?

Thanks for your time as I'm kicking this around a bit.

Honestly, I don't have the specs yet, but it would appear all of the first five gears are the same, or VERY close to stock. I'll get the specs sometime this week. I'll need the first service by next weekend!

Yes, 1-5 same as stock, 6th is 0.86:1.

OK, Update after a day with the SE 6 speed. All the ratios are ther same up to 6th. The rev's in sixth are as follows:
70 mph 2500 rpm
80 mph 2850-2900 rpm
95 mph (just for a few sec's! 3400 rpm
(I'm gonna break it in like I ride it!)
This is SOOO COOL!

Are you running stock engine? If any engine, exhaust, air cleaner mods, please let us know.

I am looking into getting a 6-speed for my flhri (for better gas mileage on highway) and heard it was not worth it if not running at least a 95" engine w/ cams.

I'd like to hear what you have on engine and your experiences w/ highway riding and mileage.

Thanks and congrats on the new ride!

Sounds like it might be worth looking into...and sounds like you might be having a little TOO much fun braking your bike in....LOL

By the way...I really dig the KRUZER KADDY...might have to pick one of those up...is it quick detatchable?

Is it still unmateable with the H-D Hydraulic Clutch, or have they come out with a retrofittable upgrade yet?

I'm running a bone stock 04 Ultra 88TC, with Bubs slip on exhaust. I runs great! I don't know why anyone would say that you have to have the 95 incher. The 88 is plenty strong. ( of course I just came off a pretty stock 80 cube 1998 Ultra). My neigbor rode the Ultra, and is ordering his 6 speed for his 99 RK this week!(88 TC with slipons and a jet kit).I liove the ride! and the mileage will be better. I got 42 mpg on the first tank, on a TIGHT motor! I'm running to San Antonio tomorrow (300 miles each way, ) and I'll post more when I get back in a few days.

Maybe I'll have to have that done at the 10K service interval.

Thanks for the reply. Please do let us know how the ride turned out when you get back. Ride safe and have fun!

OK,
After 1200 miles this week with 6 speed, here's my lowdown...
1. Great on the Highway 84 mph at 3000 rpm
91-92 mph at 3200 rpm!
2. 42.4 miles per gallon on a 900 mile road trip, most of which was at 80 plus mph with some runs at 85-90! ON A NEW TIGHT MOTOR! I expect to get 45+ commuting! It would have got MUCH BETTER if I could stay off the THROTTLE!
3. 6 th gear is fine on hills of S Texas as long as your up at 80 mph when you hit 'em! You need to be at 3000 rpm for it to pull good!
4. 6 th gear at 70 mph is 2500 RPM! Soo smooothh cruisin' you could take a nap!

For you guys that rack up lots of Highway miles you gotta get one!
Now I gotta go clean that NASTY SOB! 1200 miles of Texas Dust and rain makes one HELL of a mess!
OHHH GOD!! MY BIKE GOT DIRTY!!! DID I VOID THE WARRANTY?!
Dale
1200 miles he first week! and I was at work 5 days of it!

Awesome. Looks like I may just have to do this before biketoberfest. I'm looking for good mpg on highway going abouts 70-75 mph.

Thanks!

Just a guess on my part, so far, but mileage at 70-75 steady should be above 45-47.
I may never know, because I may never run 70 again!

Dale
first week: 1200 miles and five of those I was at work!
