Trailers

Has anyone tried building the Harbour Freight trailer? I found on the web several different articles on this. Suppose to make a very good motorcycle trailer. Was planning to do it but wanted to know if anyone had already accomplished it. I will be pulling this with my 03 Ultra.

There is a trailer towing forum on Delphi

http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTrailertowing/start

I have a very similar trailer that I bought off EBAY recently, a Piggybacker.

Thanks, thats where I first got the idea. I just wanted to see if anyone had actually done this for a Harley. Most were Hondas and Yamahas.

Trailers

Take a look at the Bushtec site. They make quite an assortment.

http://www.bushtec.com/

When I had my Gold Wing I had one and I had it up to 90 mph and you don't even know it was there. (just took it up to that speed to check it out).

They are the best made, best towing trailer out there - bar none!

They cost a little more if you option them out but man....are they nice. I'm thinking of getting another one to tow behind my Ultra. I sold the other one with the wing!

Antonio Pendejo is an unknown quantity at this point
I built my trailer last year from the H/F kit with the 12' wheels. I narrowed the trailer 4" and extended the tongue 10" by moving the middle cross member of the trailer bed forward to the next set of predrilled holes. I painted the whole rig with Rustoleum satin black, used a piece of 1/8" aluminum diamond plate for the bed and topped it off with a Sears 20 cu.ft. cartop carrier. Took a couple of preruns with it into the Eastern Sierras, then the lil' lady and I loaded everything up, in fact probably way overloaded and took off for Sturgis. The trailer handled magnifcently, had it up past 90mph a few times when passing long strings of big rigs. The tow vehicle is a 2003 Ultra Classic with just the stage 1 and it towed just fine, could use more power on those long grades but 3rd gear at 55 and still had power to spare on the big hills. I found that the bike is actually more stable with the trailer and tracks like it is on rails. If you just want a budget trailer for those 2-3 times a year use I would say go with a do it yourselfer.
