Recall Question

Has anyone had the recall done for the faulty circuit breaker that would cause the bike to stall? Just wondering if the dealers have the parts yet.

I had my bike in for service a couple of weeks ago and asked about the recall. My dealer said I was the first one that had asked and that they hadn't received anything in terms of parts from HD yet. He also told me they are planning to replace the 40 amp breaker with 50 amp breaker. Didn't know when the part would be available. Seems kinda strange for a company to issue a safety recall and then not have the parts available. I would think a big suit could come out of this if someone gets injured waiting for the dealers to come up with the parts!

I've had mine done on a FLHPI I just picked up. In fact, Harley wouldn't let the dealer release the bike to me until it was done. That was about three weeks ago in Michigan, so the parts are out there...

I talked to the customer service dept at Harley yesterday. The lady I talked to said that the parts for the recall will be shipped to dealers within a week from now.

Got mind done yesterday (Apr 26). The dealers have the parts and computer record of all VINs affected. If they tell you different, call HD Customer Service, after your call to them, the Dealer will get a call. BTW, you do not need the letter/card from HD to get this done.

Anyone know the recall number and/or how to get a copy of it? Which model/ year bikes does it apply to?

Go to the Harley US website, look under police bikes, and click on news. There is a complete description of the re-call and all affected models

You go go to Service Check-up , enter your VIN (any model) and the first reply will be if this affects your bike......

Got my "recall" notice today from HD.

Now getting it done is going to be the fun part. Service manager at the local HD says the only thing he know about it is what customers are telling him. Have been hearing this for over a month now..

A friend of mine who has a 2002 Ultra informed me that he had a letter about this issue yesterday from the MOCO and he is to contact the service department for an appointment at his earliest convenience.

Got the recall notice on Saturday and made the appointment for May 6th to get the work done. I think the replacement part is a fuse block rather than a circut breaker....anyone know for sure.

From what I have been told, it is the fuse block that is being replaced by the circuit breaker and a freiend just had notice of the recall on his 2002 Ultra.
The problem seems to be with the touring line and may include 01,02 and 03.
I believe they are now using the circuit breaker in the 04's so they should not be afffected.
