Man talk about true I had to check everthing on my 2011 roadking loose bolts and the trans had about a splash of oil in it. a glad I didn't ride it before I checked it over.

Rendell
like you before I bought my 2012 electraglide classic I searched on this site and others for problems with these bikes. In searching I found some people with complaints (mainly people who jacked with their bikes)and some were happy with them. Bottom line is if you are looking to find people with problem bikes you will find them.I however have ridden my bike 7000 miles over mountains in desert, interstates, back roads, rain, heat, cold and never had a problem !!! Like someone told me buy it and don't look back. Very glad I did good
luck!!!

best thing to do is pull the dipsticks and aleast check how much oil and trans fluid is in it before you ride off on a new bike, the dealers should be embaressed.

Yes, sir. They should be embarrassed about the way they sold the one I currently have. They not only know it was jacked up, the salesman stopped returning calls, the service manager insulted me on a personal level, and the list goes on and on..

And some old riders.. I love the way this thing rides, but dislike the continual downtime. foreign bikes handle fine, and I can ride them many miles with only maint, that is just a few hours a season. this thing has been down more than 40% of the 4 months I've owned it, and cost me at least twice what a foreign bike would have. That isn't good stewardship of one's investments.

I will agree with that.

I picked my 2012 up, rode it home 1.5 miles and started taking stuff off. The right side muffler was missing one bolt, and the other bolt was on by about two threads. The oil pressure guage also didn't work. Small things, but again, who is testing these things and going over them. Both at the factory and the dealer?

The only issue I had since in almost 15,000 miles is the regulator issue. Never had a problem with it, they did the recall and life went on.

It's been a great bike thus far.

Not a limited, but it is a 212 touring bike, so a lot of the same things apply!

been riding *** bikes for 25 years, always go over them, even after you buy them. Like a pilot preflight checks. but I've never had one delivered with serious missed bolts and such, but there is always one or two bolts loose.. I believe most *** bikes get final assembly at the dealership. Most *** bike dealerships spend extra time on the relationship aspect of the sale, which includes a good final inspection before delivery. just my experience.

The problem to me seems like its becoming to much like buying a new car when you walk in a dealership anymore hustle you in get your money and move on to the next sucker..Back in the day it. was more like dealing with family and friends and they put forth some effort to do right by customers because motorcycles on the whole were a hobby/shared common interest instead of a money machine business....Oh well that's the end of my rant for the day...lmao

Have a 2012 Electraglide Classic and unfortunately have issues with the bike that to date have not been resolved by HD. My main complaint has been a very foul oder that comes out of the air cleaner when I decelerate. Another issue is the cruise control shuts off when running down the interstate and hit the bump typically found when coming on or off a bridge. Clutch clatters in neutral, 1st gear whines when slowing down, burns some oil, runs hot and of course top end noise. And the best part is Harley says this is all just normal for a $25,000 motorcycle. Price keeps going up and quality keeps going down.

Slick, I hear ya. However, the last truck I bought I got the family feel from the service dept. I even went back to by another truck, with them knowing I'm buyer, to find the salesman that I bought from had "Left'. I'm sure he had a bad month, and they let him go. I sold cars for a year in El Paso, Texas. Great dealership, Dick Poe Motors. the 6 top brands, and 3 used lots, if I couldn't find the right car for the Customer then it because I didn't look hard enough. Anyway, I always thought of my Customers as friends and treated them as such. I had several months of 10k+ take home pays. It doesn't make sense to me to "sell and forget" like they do now. I just did little things like send birthday cards, gave them a calendar with their picture on it, remembered a little bit about them and truly felt like they mattered. Oh yeah, a case of beer (or two) for the detail shop, and prep shop always makes sure that someone actually goes over the car you just sold, and cares about it. Then a good last check up before delivery. They sent folks to see me and buy cars from me. I made more money off "residual" sales than first hand sales. Of course, I attribute much of it too abundant inventory, quality inventory, and a set of dealerships that actually realize who pays them help.
flhtp1, The issues you are having do not sound normal to me. I would be back at A dealership (a different one than the original if they told me it was normal), and sending a letter to HD corp. Heck if need be, a road trip to Milwaukee would not be out of the question. I am from Wisconsin, and if the new one I buy does what you have and I can't get any resolution, I would road trip home, and go by the corp HQ. that's just me.

HD has priced their bikes out of reach of most working people grasp. i agree price keeps going up while quality goes down, heel they don't even look at the bike before it goes out the door. my bike does all the same things as yours, hoe much oil usage are you talking about.my bike used 4oz's in 1000 miles, but i only have 3000 on the bike and was hoping it will get better as i get more miles on it.
