On the newer bikes with TBW what happens when you ht the rev limiter

Rev limiter limits the RPM's. Not to go over the specified setting.. In the ECU tunning... Hope this answered your question..

The same thing that happens when you hit the limiter on a throttle cable bike.

the reason i asked is if i hit 5300rpm the bike goes into limp mode. the 1st time was by accident, then later i did it on purpose same result limp mode. i never had this happen since stage 1 and dyno tuning several years ago. the bike runs great and i shift between 3500 to 4000 rpms there are no issues. should i leave it alone or have it looked at

original rev limiter was 5600, stage 1 should be 6200. wonder if you are still set at 5600? I would have it looked at if you do not have a tuner to look yourself.

Should not be going into limp mode after hitting limiter.

the only change in the past year was the air intake i went from the heavy breather to ventilator when i added glove boxes. then i had oil leaking out of filter, so like a lot of other riders i added tubes to direct the dripping oil into the throttle body more. could the oil dripping at the higher rpms cause the bike to go into limp mode. as long as i don't hit 5300 or a little higher rpms the bike runs great, great response, and quick. normal ridding 2600 to 3400 rpms and even getting on it the rpms are usually under 5000. just a little puzzled since i never had the bike go into limp mode before. and thanks for the responses

I rarely hit 5600 RPM's.. Maybe you just never got to the limiters limit's.?? Just a thought..

I guess I'd ask if by limp mode you mean that you have to slow down or pull over. Limp mode has little or no throttle response, Rev limiter cuts the engine out on the higher RPM's but you won't end up by the side of the road.
