Sluggish engine
Its hard to explain whats going on but my bike is real sluggish. the plugs, wires, battery have been changed but that was a few months ago. compared to the bikes i ride with my bike is a dog. i have a 2004 electraglide standard efi. the mufflers are aftermarket ovals not sure they are made by, other than that the bike is stock. it seems like i lost a lot of power. what could cause some things like this? thanks

Make sure your air cleaner is clean and isn't obstructing air flow.
Check throttle cable adjustment, make sure you're getting full throttle.
If neither of those solve the problem have the mapping checked.

Unless you recently changed components, and if it ran well with the current components and EFI map, it's unlikely to be the map itself. Could be a dirty air cleaner or a bad sensor or throttle cable issue. Otherwise, do a compression check.

Add the fuel filter to the things on the check list.
Make sure you don't have a caliper dragging.

Bad gas. Compression check. Excess oil in crank case. New plugs/wires bad? Fuel vent plugged?

What are you comparing your bike with? All Harley's are Dogs except the V-Rod.

Are you running the same brand of gas all the time? I know a couple of months ago here in NC that the " May contain 10% ethenol " stickers started showing up everywhere. I don't know how Va. is blending their fuel but that could be a possibilty especially if you're running 87 octane gas. I always run premium fuel, usually Shell, & haven't noticed any difference with mine. Shell was also included with the added sticker, right now I don't know of any gas here in NC that is not labeled as "may contain", so now it's a real crap shoot as to knowing what you're burning.

With those after market mufflers it is possible the bike needs a good tune. Changing either air intake or the exhaust system alters the A/F ratio consequently it should be checked to see if a tune is in order.
