I've mounted 12.5s on two Street Glides, Needed extensions. I'd say 10.5 or 11 is probably the limit.

I used 13 apes that the handgrips were just above the top of the fairing.i rerouted the clutch cable, throttle wires were fine but the brake line was at its limit.the switch wires were fine also.they were wild ones bars.

I installed 12in Yaffe bars on my Street Glide. Went with 6in over on the brake and clutch. Also did the wire extensions. Had plenty of extra brake line but it would be tight with stock line. Clutch was a little long - probably could have gone with 4in over but doubt anything less would work. Doing it without wire extension would have also been very tight. I would say you might could do 10in bars with stock cables but it would be tight.

I did 10.5 and while I probably could have gotten by with the stock wiring and cables to work, it would have looked like ass and I know the throttle cables would bind when turned all the way to the left or close to it.
Friend of mine had the stealer do 10" on his Low Rider and they used the stock stuff. Looked like hell to me, especially the brake line at the master cylinder.

I've been told 10 inches. You have to be careful with the pullback measurement too. You can go up a couple of inches or back a couple but you can't do both. The clutch cable got me on my Sweepers.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I took the fairing off last night to see what I have to work with. Looks the the wires may have some room to go but the clutch and brake are close to their max.
So, the next question..... What is the magical number for height?
Im a shorter guy. Kinda thinking 12's but is that even worth it. Anyone know the height on the stockers?

There is no magic number. Everyone has their own idea of what's comfortable or looks cool. Personally, i like to have my hands about shoulder height, which equates to 12in bars. Anything higher may also get you in trouble with law in some states. BTW, I'm 5'10", so i'd suggest you not go any taller. The stock bars are probably about 6-7 in height. Believe me, 12 in bars will feel like night/day compared to stock.
