2013 Electra Glide Ultra Limited Questions

I bought a 2012 Ultra Limited as well, before I left the dealership I had them install the tour pack detach kit, rode the bike all year & found myself using the tour pack daily, only took it off once (just to say I did it) Everyone has a preference, but I would ride the bike awhile before I made the investment, I'm running the V&H power duals with the wide oval mufflers, 255 cams, power tuner, SE air intake. Love the bike & it has a very useable power band, If you do decide on the quick detach kit, protect your rear fender so the wires don't rub the paint. (I waited to long to check on the way the dealer routed the wires on mine & ended up with marks in the paint) If you decide on installing the detach kit & keep the trunk mounted antenna's you can't run the filler plate's between the bags & fender without doing modifications, If you want the filler plates without doing modifications, you will need to install the fairing mounted antenna, but you will loose the CB. Food for thought.

Got the kit today and started the install tonight. I'll finish it up tomorrow. Seems pretty straight forward. As far as exhaust I'm still reading a lot about that. Mirrors on the other hand seem fine stock so ill leave them alone until I decide if I want black or chrome. Now for windshields. I like the idea of the windsplitter but my eye line is 2" below the stock ( right at the top of the 10" I'm guessing) but I'm Affraid the 7" will be too low.

3.If you are coming back to CA don't do nothig yet. Reason, from January all bikes registered in 2013 have to have smog check. So if you do exhaust and air intake plus dino tune thy will not pass smog check for sure. But if you do stay in Tx sky is limit and what I did is D&D (hella loud I like sound) TTS tuner , air intake so many pick what you like (they look different but same function sucking air in engine) .. good luck.

I personally went with the 8" Freedom Shield dark smoked,,about the right height for me and the little kick at the top cuts down on turbulence in my face, which keeps my glasses from fluttering..

You might want to look at the Kuryakyn fairing mounted mirrors. Mounts on front of fairing using existing 3 screws. Looks really nice and functional. Have them on my current and last bike. Frees up area around handle bars for all my other "stuff" (gps, radar detector.

Idid the detachable for my tourpak ('11 Limited). All the connectors are under the seat and moved the antennas to down low on the frame. I had it off for a while, then went on vacation and put it back on. I'll probably never take it off again, to be honest I can't even tell it's there anymore. I had one on my '86 FL and '05 RKC that I only put on occasionally but this bike handles soooooo much differently (better) that for me it was a waste of money (IMO).

Sorry I haven't responded guys but I've been busy moving. I did get the detachable tour pak and I love it. Hasn't been on actually since I took it off. Also bought the HD 10" windsplitter windshield and tallboy seat. Ill be honest I love the bike about a 100% more now which is tough since I loved it before. Next up will be full exhaust and intake. Need to do a little more research on that first.
