solution

Hey guys found solution,
Talked to couple HD and local mechanics, best explanation gave me old guy. He said when you turn on ignition switch gas pump works and makes gas ready to fire if you wait until lights on speedometer goes out and when you press start button gas pump puts gas again and floods motor , so you got twice gas instead of once. That was his explanation why sometimes bike misfires and I got smoke out of air cleaner. So what I did changed plugs, took little oil out of engine (it was over top mark, I changed it week ago ) and it fires every time now..

Sorry, i don't buy this explanation. First of all, I've never had this problem with my 09 Street Glide. When you turn on the ignition the fuel pump starts and primes the system. Nothing else happens until you hit the start switch.

I don't know could be the spark plugs, or too much oil that I had, or something else is brewing to surprise me.

I had a couple of ole shovelheads that would do that sometimes when trying to kick start. Haven't had that happen on any of the modern bikes i've owned. Not sure what causes it exactly. Probably some extra fuel kicking back through the air cleaner. Not really smoke but more of a fuel/oil mist.

Doesn't make any sense.. Too much oil can cause oil vapor come out of air intake system and drop oil on cover...

Everyone I've had has done this at one time or another...Usually when it kicks back a bit. Never gave it a second thought.

starter

UPDATE,
hi guys after wile it just get worst, so went to other HD dealer and he took care of the problem and is still under waranty.
Spiting smoke on air cleaner is cosed by faulty starter clutch. So they will take it appart and change it and see if anything else is bad because of starter.

Faulty starter causes smoke out of air cleaner? Let us know how that works out for you.
