Klock Werks shield

Anyone running the Klock Werks 8.5 smoke on their SG.
How happy are you? How is the buffeting or lack off.

I use a 6.5" KW shield on my SG. At 5'10' I see over the shield and find in works great vs the stock 4" during spirited hwy riding.
If you're interested in the 8.5" I would advise you to test it to ensure you're line of sight is over the shield and not through it....I tried looking through mine and objects looked distorted due to the "melted" shape of the shield.

You're right I think I need the 6.5, I'm 5'9 and I'm using the HD wind whatever that they sell that seems to be a attempted copy of this one and I see over it, but I'm getting lots of buffeting at anything over 60MPH, Im doing the fork lowers and I want to install it now and be done with it.
Thanks

I've got a 6.5 KW that I'd sell. Didn't like it - too noisy for me. Pm me if you're interested.

KW 6.5 is sold. Thanks to all those that inquired.

My dealer lets you demo them before you buy. I tried the 8.5 got some buffeting and wind noise that was annoying. Also tried the wind splitter from Harley. It was about the same. Find a dealer that has demo stock on hand and try them out before you buy.

I am 5'10" with a 31" inseam. I put the 6.5 klockwerks on a reckless faring on my 2008 Road King classic (which was lowered in the rear so it sat like a SG).

It was great!! I had minimal to no buffeting. Could see over it and wind went right over my head. I loved it.

Plus the flip and curves created a down force on the faring as advertised so the bike was much more stable at high speed than without (the batwing faring actually acts like a wing and creates front end lift, which the klockwerks windshield counters).

So, my experience was very positive.

Have had the 6.5 on mine for years and wouldn't trade it for anything. I noticed right away I don't get the buffeting from semi's anymore. BTW, I'm 5'10"

KW Flare

I have a 6.5" smoked and its easily the best shield I've had. I'm 5'8" and look over the top of it. You'll find other mfrs that take more wind off of you but you'll be hard pressed I think, to find one that creates more stability especially at speed.
Whatever they did in the wind tunnel in testing seems to translate to my bike.

I live the Klockwerks shield. I am 6'0" with 32" inseam. the 8.5" worked great. A traditional windscreen just doesn"t cut it.

I have the 8.5 and it works well, but remember the buffering comes from below the fairing so changing windshields don't help. The fix is installing the lower fork wind deflectors

Well I have used the the flair for years, I first used the the 6.5 with my low slug C&C seat. It worked great not only giving good wind and rain protection but added down force to the front end making it more stable.
When I changed out the C&C seat for a Harley police air ride (Because of the tailbone issue) I found I needed to change the shield to the 10.5 because of how much higher I was sitting on the bike.

Both shields work just fine and I can see over them just fine, I am 6'2" and have a 33" inseam.

My point would be, if you are plaining to get a different seat, get it first so you can get the correct height one.

Couple pictures....

And I have had the Harley lower wings since I bought the bike, so as has been pointed out, you should get them as well.

I have the 8.5 inch Klock Werks shield on my 09 SG and I will say 90% of the time I have no buffering , When I do have buffering is when the wind is hitting me at 10 or 2 O:clock .. My height is 5ft 10in and I see over the shield just fine

I have a 6.5 Klockwerks on my SG12. huge difference in the wind buffeting.
Above 60mph or so, still get a little, but nothing like the stock windshield. I'm 5'10". I see over the windshield just fine.
