Front end weave at over 80 mph.

My 96 Ultra Classic gets a weave in the front end when I'm at about 80. It's not a wobble but a gentle weave. Is this normal? I'm comming off a GL1800 which was very stable at a buck and a quarter. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Thanks, Ricky

Take the bags off and lay on the ground 10-15 feet behind our bike and sight the wheels to see if they are out of align with each other. Some Hogs have alignment issues. This can be adjusted by the turnbuckels on the motor.
Also make sure the steering bearings aren't loose.

Thanks. I'll check her out. I had the steering bearings checked last week, but not the alignment. I think the front shock pressure last I checked was 15.

srb8267 is on a distinguished road
In answer to the question, is this normal: No. On my old 88' FLHTC and my new 02' FLHTCI the ride is very stable at 85+mph. I did have a low rear tire that caused a strange feel to the front end once. There was a thread on this forum, a while back, that had info on checking and adjusting the rear wheel alighnment of a FLH model. You might do a search.

I'm sure that you are not running in any very small groves in the road.On some interstates that I ride on, there is real fine groves cut into the surface

Mine is stable right up to 115 (thats where the rev limiter kicks in). Make sure like is stated above that all is in line. Makes a big difference. Usually its the raer tire that needs to be adjusted, did you have it replaced recently?

I talked to the service tech when I made my appt. He said the wheels don't line up on Ultra's... that's how they are designed. He said it may be the steering head needs adjustment. I'll keep you posted.
