103 RG vibration

My son just picked up his new 2011 Roadglide custom w/ the 103.
The first thing he and then I noticed was the serious vibration when cruizing at normal speeds. You can really feel it in your floor boards. Is this normal on this bike?? He had a 2010 RG and it had little to no vibration is comparison. Seems like it could be tranny related. Pull in the clutch and the vibrations gone. I'd appreciate any thoughts from you 103 RG owners.
Thanks.

I have a 2011 RG Ultra----no vibrations on mine like you're describing. Sounds like something to have checked.

Check the oils!! Make sure they are up to level. After that take it to back to the dealer. They should have found that vibration trouble when they took it out for a test drive, and they are supposed to check the fluids. But I have read here that sometimes that gets missed, can you belive it.!!

Let us know what happend.

Stay calm.

I had a 2009 SG did the same thing. Took it in and they siad it was the cupped front tire. Gave me a new tire and said it was fixed. Nope, still there and starts at about 3100 rpm. Felt it the most in 5th gear. Fluids good. Ran it 12k miles and nothing came apart but drove me nuts. Couldn't take it any longer and traded the bike in. I think it was a transmission thing but never tore into because it was under warranty. Road the shiat out of it and it held together so maybe it's was normal. I will say I don't rememeber feeling it the first 1000 miles. No metal in motor oil or tranny.

Good luck. I know how those things weight in the back of your mind on a long trip.

Have the dealer check the crank-shaft run out. Also if the exhaust is touching the floorboard this will cause your right f.board to vibrate.Loose compensator bolt will also cause boards to vibrate.

my 2010 103 Ltd vibrates as well. Apparently a known issue for the 103 engine

My dad has a 09 and I have a 10 Trike with the 103 and no vibration, they run pretty damn smooth.

8-2011 ny to sturgis ride .. Comp bolt "drilled" itself thru the primary cover. Part of it stayed inside the crank. And the spline was damaged. Hd went for a new motor + cover and se compensator.
Oh yea 2000 miles on it + 3 weeks old!
2012 rd glide. Just unreal !

On my 2011 FLHX I did notice some more vibration in the floor boards than on my 01. That being said, I rode it 7849 miles with not a single problem.

The first thing I noticed while demo riding at the Harley Davidson 105th in Milwaukee was that yes, the new four point motor mount system had less vibration at idle. But more vibration at speed compared to the old three point mounting system.

I've never minded the shaking at idle on my Ultra and really love how it smooths out at speed. Sitting at a stop light with my mirrors vibrating just reminds me that I'm sitting on a Harley!!

Even so, your son's bike probably has something wrong with it since it vibrates more than the 2010 did. The 103's I've ridden have been pretty smooth at highway speeds.

A good dealer will try to get to the bottom of the issue. A mediocre dealer will try to tell you it is normal. Hopefully your dealer is above average.

Wait, this post is from June. What was the outcome, Eggbert???
