Throttle issues with 2010 Ultra

Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was the fix for it....

First off I have to say that my 2010 Ultra has been trouble free... It now has almost 17k on it...

Here is my problem...

The first time the problem happend, I just left from a light as was coming up thur the gears and the check engine light came on and the throttle went to idle... after getting over to the side of the road the only thing the bike would is idle.... I shut the bike off and restarted.... engine light went out... no more problem,

Second time.... I going down the high way at 60 mph with curise control on.... bingo again engine light comes on bike goes back to idle... Again I shut the bike off let it sit for a min or so... start back up... everything is normally again...

If it was a turbocharged diesel VW made about 10 years ago I'd tell you it was you N75 module. But it's not. I bring up the analogy because the N75 detects overboost in the intake manifold and puts the ECU into a limp mode to prevent damage to the engine. As the module ages and fills with crud it tends to cry wolf often constantly throwing your red TDi Jetta into limp mode several times a day for no particular reason.....

That being said there are sensors in your engine that talk to the ECU. If a certian peramiter is exceeded then it throws the engine into a limp status to prevent further damage. It won't go the speed limit but it'll get you home.

This sounds like an electronic issue for your dealer to worry about. I say electric because when you cycle the ignition it more or less performs a restart on your computer allowing it to go back to "normal" mode until it senses something out of whack and puts you into limp mode.

You most likely have a bad sensor or you need to choke the guy who tuned your fuel module.

you can do a test by yourself as, press the trip button on the speedo, with the ignition off. One second later (keeping the button presed) turn the ignition on and you-ll see a self test on the speedo. After the needle reaches max speed and all leds come on, you'll see in the counter area a type of code. Using the trip button again you can read you're ecm and tsm modules errors. Just press and hold the trip button as you go along. In one of the filed some error should come on like "P1005" or similar. If you give me this code I can tell you right away what part should be faulty. If you don't want to hasle with it just go to your hd dealer.
Regards

There is a tech bulletin about throttle issues. If I remember correctly it was replacing the terminals at the throttle body and applying dielectric grease. tt-418 is the number. Mike

Exact same thing happened to my 09 Street Glide 2 weeks ago. Took it to my dealer and they found a bad sensor. No problems since.

These are the two codes that they found the first time when they looked at it
P1511 Throttle actuator control power management mode
P2135 Throttle position sensor correlation error

It is sitting at the dealership. Missing out on great riding weather... But as I said this is the first time I have had problems with her... It has been a great bike since day one..

I had the same exact problem with my 10 road glide. I only had 300 miles on the bike when it started happening.

The dealer had to come and pick it up twice before they were able to get it fixed. I'll see if I can find the service paperwork to tell ya exactly what they ended up doing. I know they were changing out allot of things because they had no idea what the issue was.

I've got about 1200 miles now and have not seen the issue again.

Good luck......

I have a 09 streetglide and I had the codes p1511 and p2135 along with p0134 (front o2 sensor not responding). Got it to dealer, they said the codes were historic. Cleared codes, test rode bike and said it must be a fluke, should never happen again.
Five minutes after I left it went into limp mode. Took it back and had same codes. Cleared the codes and test rode bike with computer hooked up with it. Came back and said no codes, hard to pin point and triedd to give me my bike back.

I told them the bike is broke, fix it. They said well it's hard to track it down. I told them, You cleared the codes twice and now you're giving me my bike back to break again. They said they could look into it further. I made them drive me home. So we'll see.

Corey

Please be sure and give us an update on what they do to fix the problem. I started getting the p1510, p1511 and p2135 codes last week. Bike went into limp mode as I pulled onto my patio after a ride.

I had read about the plug on the throttle body. I pulled the plug and cleaned up as good as possible and applied dielectric grease on both sides of plug/socket. Bike ran fine yesterday but today I got the check engine light and the codes came back.

I'm also getting a "no rsp" (no response, I assume) sometimes when checking for codes.

Thanks
Cecil

The dealer had to call harley... Harley told them to replace the pins on the TPS.. They also checked the wiring harness going to the voltage regulator and claimed that water was inside it. they relocated the harness. So far I have put almost 600 miles on the bike and the problem has not come back...
