Lowering 07 Ultra Classic

My sister has purchased an 07 Ultra Classic and while riding with her I noticed she was having to tippy toe when she stopped. I think this is an accident waiting to happen and would like to lower the bike a couple of inches for her. Has anyone done this, if so how???

several ways to do it... the cheap way is buying lowering blocks to relocate the rear shocks.

Another way is to buy a lower seat, or to have the existing seat reconfigured by a reputable seat shop (Mean City)

Still another way is to buy lowered shock kits and retune the suspension for her height.

Do her a favor and have her get boots with thick soles & heels along with rebuilding or replacing her seat with one designed for shorter riders.
The loss of cornering clearence and emergency handling capabilites lowering a bike causes is significant. It degrades the ride too.

You are correct about the ride being degraded. But a lowered bike as long as it is lowered front and rear is easier to handle because of the lower center of gravity. I had my 06 Ultra lowered with HD's lowering shocks for the rear and springs for the front end. It lowered the bike by 1" all the way around . I also purchased an HD reach seat. I was then able to sit flat footed. What I lost in ride and cornering ability was well worth it to be able to sit flat footed.

I lowered my RoadKing, front and rear, using the Harley lowering shocks for the rear and springs for the front. While lowering my wife's Heritage I noticed some things associated with vertically challenged riders. Lowering the Ultra will most likely help, however, you may need to take a look at the big touring seat that is on the Ultra. The seat typically is wide, at the neck, and will impair a short riders leg placement by forcing the legs out and away from the frame. You may want to have the rider sit on the bike without the seat to give you a starting point. There are many seat manufacturers that provide seats lower, narrower and closer to the bars. The older Corbin seats (Close Solo for instance) worked well for this, I don't know about the newer designs. As some one else pointed out, a new set of boots with thicker soles and heels may be in order as well. You can expect to lower the seat height approximately three (3") inches, if you utilize all of these proceedures. Good luck with your sister's bike fitment.

Here is what I was talking about. Lower the suspension then add this http://store.fatbaggers.com/drsekitop.html and you would have one sweet ride.

Harley sells shorter rear shocks.... they are what come standard on the Street Glide, which is slightly lower than the Electra Glide models.

You don't even have to lower the front. It's okay to lower the rear and NOT the front, but not the other way around (if wanna lower the front, should lower the rear also).

+1 on not needing to lower the front if you lower the rear, but you will not get the full affect of lowering the bike unless you lower the front also.

I think the Fat bagger kit is for 09 and on because it replaces the rear section of the frame. It is alot of $$$$$$$!

If she is on her tippy toes it's going to be very hard to back the bike up even on a smooth flat surface. Another option is somethng like a Legend's Air ride rear suspension.
