oil coolers anyone who is using one
Ive been thinking about installing oil cooler on my RKC.Since Inbored it out to 4.250(114 ci) it seems hotter.Yea i mean temp wise.I was hoping to hear from other running oil cooler.Whats the gifferance in temps. What brand.Looking at Jags system maybe the dual system. Also looking at canister style filter with finned outer, that claims to drop temp some.
So what you running and how good is it?

I run the jag horizontial mounts 10 row oil cooler. Ride in Northern Nevada/California.
107" 10.5/1 compression ride agressive mostly 1up.
Pre oil cooler rear cyl would come on in town. after a long run engine would be in 35-255 range depending on air temp
after cooler install get hot in traffic but cyl never kicks out after long sustained speed run temp is in 200-225 range.

I have a jag 6 row deluxe vertical with manual thermostat on my 103 cube 07 flht . Australian summer was running at 275 before oil cooler install. Bike now runs 200 220 summer 170 180 winter. Don't mess with the auto thermostat get a manual or run a cover over the oil cooler in winter. I had a 10 row Harley (CHINA) cooler on my old 06 dyna with the auto thermostat somehow it jammed closed and would not let the oil through to the cooler. The Jagg filter housing runs both oil lines under the filter and is offset to miss the crank sensor. The harley (china) housing runs the oil lines above the oil filter with no offset for the crank sensor. Buy a USA made Jagg
Thats my experience with both units

I run a 6 Row Jagg with Auto thermostat on my Roadglide. Haven't had a moments trouble in 4 years!
I ride year round and the auto thermo works! From what I've read the 10 row is probably the best on the market.

I run with the Harley cooler on my Ultra. When the bike is moving it seems to work.
However, when I'm stuck in the entrance of the Holland Tunnel or in the middle of the Tappan Zee Bridge with feet down the bike starts rockin' and rollin' when that rear cylinder shuts down due to overheating.

2010 Harley Tri Glide, with the CAT it was running hot at idle in summer traffic conditions! Jagg Horizontal mount 10 Row with modified mount to make room for the Arizona Fan kit. Hooked to accessory switch and used the added female plug to run a Lanale Parade Fan. Kinda small, not much larger than horn cover it replaced! Colder Plug, will keep going down until it starts to soot and then go back up a heat number!
Richened up AFR at idle and some cat eating bacteria eat the Cat!
Amsoil synthetic but Mobile 1 or syn 3 should not flash off until over 300 degree's. Won't get a real test until July or August!

I have a Harley cooler, I can't tell you the exact temp difference but I can tell you it's a big one. I have a buddy with same year/make bike without the cooler and I can feel the difference between mine and his....

Jagg 6-row on the down tube. Had it 4-5 yrs now. No thermostat to screw up. I use a cover when it's cold, take it off when it's warm. No probs.
Dunno how much it cools the motor. I got it for looks.

Beats being stuck IN the Holland (or Lincoln) tunnel. Maybe days years ago I'd ride into the city for lunch with my wife on the bike. Coming home at rush hour and sitting behind a Decamp bus spewing exhaust for an hour could not be healthy. I came out looking like a coal miner.

I've had the HD Premium for three years with no problems. The standard thermostat works great and oil temps normally run 205° while moving >45mph in summer, never more than 230° (rarely) in traffic. In winter riding with temps in the 60's the oil temp is around 180°, up to 200° in traffic. I think all TC engines should be equipped with an oil cooler.
