Tour Pak Lighting on a 09 Street Glide

I have an older tour pak (1997) that my painter has to match to my Pearl Black 09 Street Glide. I have found a Deutsch 4 plug male connection on the left side beside the ABS brake system, but when I tested it for power got nothing? I thought all touring bikes had a connector to connect a tour pak to them? What have others done? Do I make my own? The tour pak I have has a 4 plug Deutsch male connect coming out of it for the Lights. The previous owner just cut the speaker wires. Can make my own connects for that. Any help would be great. Thanks

Did you trace the wires back to check them to see if they are connected?

My 08 Street Glide had the connector for the tri-bar light on the lower end of the fender attached to the radio antenna wire - which is the connector that would go for the tour pack also. I used an ultra TP for a trip and disconnected the finder light to hook up to the TP. I had to un-wiretie the extra wire bundled up under the left side cover to make it reach though. I am going to do up a special connector this winter to hook up all the lighting on the TP so I can leave the fender light working.

Just a note if you haven't mounted it yet , the hole's in bottom of pack dont match up . I bought new metal plate inside tour pak ( $15) and drilled new hole and filled old ones.

Question TP lighting

With a little information I can check the service manual for an 07 and see what wires go where for you. When you say left side near the ABS unit. Are you talking left and right as when you are setting on the seat? Also if you can tell what colors the wires are going into the connector on the bike. Just FYI the left and right sides for service and parts are always described as setting in the operators position. This also applies to cars and trucks too. One last thing. Did you check for power at the connector with the key on and the accessory switch on? That may be a switched connector. A person wants to be careful when back probing connectors with a test light. A high impedance ohm meter is your best bet just in case the connector is a computer/ECM related circuit.

The older tour paks do not act as blinkers. There is a way to get them to do so. If you use LEDs in the lamps, you won't have too much current draw and affect the blinker speed.

Gmurdock,

Let me know what you find with that connector. I just ordered the Tour Pak for my 09 Street Glide. I think I am going to put the color matched spoiler with the 3rd brake light on the lid. I was planning on using the accessory plug under the seat in front of the battery box to run some wires. It has a 4 prong Deutsch connector. One is ground, one is power with the brakes activated, one is power on all time with the ignition, and the last wire is power on only with the accessory switch and ignition on.

If there is already a plug farther toward the rear of the bike I will have to look into that too.

According to my dealer, the Street Glide doesn't come with a connection for a tour pack. You have to find power and make your own harness.

The pre-'10 Street Glide uses the tour pak harness to power the rear fender fascia LED. If you trace the antenna cable rearward from the from the front of the saddlebag you should find the connection between the tour pak harness and the LED harness zip tied to it.
