Heel/toe shift lever HELP
I recently read an article in a recent issue of a biker mag (name of which slips my mind) where the writer mentions using a new style shift lever that requires use of only the toe to shift gears whether from a higher gear to a lower gear or lower to higher. This lever accomplishes the shifting using only downward pressure on one of two pegs. Does anyone have any information on this article or the name of the shift lever and where it could be purchased. I have looked through all of my mags from the last three months and can't find anything. I don't think I imagined this since I haven't smoked anything since college. HELP!

I think it was in a recent American Rider magazine. I did see the article but can not remember for sure what mag. I read American Iron too but but for some reason think it was in the American Rider.

It's called " The New Way Shifter ". You can see a video of it on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-LGa...eature=related

The real question to the answer is "why?"

I'd probably crash before I got used to doing it that way. Interesting idea and a boot saver too. Not for me though, especially at that price!!!

I agree, potential problems for this old guy too, right at 40 or so years for me also. Craziest and most needless thing I’ve seen in awhile. Kinda fits under the heading of things that are as worthless as t!ts on a boar.

Too many guys transitioning from dyna's or sportsters to touring bikes don't want to take the time to get comfortable using the heel shifter. Once you learn to use it, you'll never want to go back....

Been using toe/heel shifter for >10 years. It's second nature now.

That would screw me up. Heck, I had to take the heal shifter off my Road King before it felt right.
