Need a little advice

Hi guys I am absolutely lost, and am looking for some opinions. I have a 1994 Road King with quite a bit of chrome, hyper charger, and low miles 20,500 to be exact. I am in the dark on what I should be expecting to get out of it money wise. I bought it for what everyone said was a great deal last year at 12K. Listing it for just a bit less then that over the past month in several different venues has netted me with no bites. What would you guys think is a fair listing price for this? I know its hard to gauge without seeing in person, but here are some pictures to try and help. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...7&l=b7dcafe01d

Any input at all is appreciated! Thanks guys.

kbb average retail is at about $8000 but in this market you will be lucky to get that out of it right now there are bikes for sale everywhere and it is also the end of the season for us here in the northern states. Good luck with the sale .

KBB is a guide but the loan value the banks will give is the final factor. All that chrome adds nothing in value and any good dealer will confirm that.

Unfortunatley you paid a little to much, that said don't give up there is a buyer out there somewhere.

It is a nice scoot but you payed too much for it. Any hopes of getting close to that number for resale should be dashed. Sorry. If you don't "Have to" get rid of it now, hold it until spring and try the market then.

That's a great bike and you didn't pay too much for it if you bought it to ride. If you bought it as an investment then you didn't do so well. Evo values have tanked ever since the introduction of the TwinCam even they are still great bikes and now can be had for less than half the cost of a TC. Ride it and enjoy it.

I have an equally nice 94 king. Tried to sell it for a friend about 4-5 years ago, in a good market. The price kept coming down every month, and when it hit $10k, I bought the darn thing. Market is terrible now, so it won't bring anywhere near what you have into it. realistic is $7500-$8000.

Thank you for all the replies. I didn't buy it as an investment, and definitely DID enjoy the time I had with the bike. It is just time to move on from it as I am looking to get a nice little boat down in Florida.

Let me make sure I understand this. You're going to give up a perfectly good motorcycle for a BOAT????

Keep the bike. Share the fuel cost on a friends boat. You'll be the happier.

you know it is called 'Head Money' I use a different word then head but you get the idea... It is your R.V roll that money to what ever your R.V or Recreation is. You are not going to live forever, but if you are married don't be doing it for the wife is all I can say. Do it for yourself because it is your self indulgence that is your "out---or vent"
YOUR HOBBIE---be it scuba or woman or horses and bikes or a culmination of boats and fishing. Whatever you want it is there for you because without you--- there is no You. Get-it? Vehicles are not investments---I have always heard two best days of owning a boat---The day you buy it and the day you sell it. Florida and a sailboat sounds as nice as a great weekend rally run. So there you go, from the mind of a free spirit.

You are pretty much spot on with your post. I am only selling this to fund the boat purchase, and I will not be buying the boat until this is out of the garage. I was never trying to make money off of the bike, and definitely got my moneys worth out of it no matter what the final sale price ends up being. Another check mark goes on the list of things I have wanted/had/enjoyed and moved on from. I am giving a couple friends a shot at an 8K price tag on her now, and then going to start tossing it up on ebay or some forums if they don't want it. Thanks for all the comments though!

Well, I can't see the pics, but KBB says retail value is $8,375.How much total in extras do you have in the bike?? I would take half of what you have in the bike ,& add that to the retail price. That would be my start selling price.Ex.if you have 5,000 in extras on the bike the start price would be $10,875.!!!! $8,375 +2,500=$10,875 or for more discount sake maybe $10,000!!! It's a tough market right now ,& you might have to hold onto it for sometime.Or you might end up taking a huge loss!!! I definitely wouldn't sell it for less than it's trade in value of $6,120!!!!
