Power Commander 3

I have a 2006 FLHRCI Road King Classic with EFI. I want to put on a better air breather for the ride, already have Rinehart exaust. Was told that if I go to a SE set up or Arlen Ness Big Sucker or K&N, I should also use the PC 3.
My question:
Has anyone used this product and how was the result. Did your bike gain a few horsepower and did it run cooler ? On installation, where does the modual go, can you give a quick run through on the install ?

Looking for info....

If you change the air filter then yes you need some sort of fuel mgt device such as PC. I installed a PC5 on my 09 SG and am very happy with their product. Very simple install...took like half an hour. If you get a PC from Fuel Moto it will come pre-programmed so all you have to do is plug n play. You will gain a few HP and torque. Bike should feel more responsive and run a little cooler. Just remember there's no substitute for a good dyno tune. My bike ran good with just the pre-programmed PC but even better after i had a custom dyno tune done...also gained nearly 10 hp/tq with the custom tune.

I have a PCIII on my '06 Streetglide and you will definitely feel the improvement. As I understand it the new PC V is an updated version and the one to go with. Installation is super simple and you'll be all smiles as soon as you twist the throttle the first time. I recommend you contact Fuelmoto - they are probably the foremost authority on DynoJet tuners.

I have a PCV on my 06 FLHT...my other bike being a FXDB with the 96 CID engine the FLHT really felt sluggish....the PCV helped a lot but be prepared for a drop in MPG...mine went from 43-44 stock to 37-38 MPG with the PCV,Stage I air cleaner and V&H slip ons.....

I average about 40 mpg with my 09 SG. Yes, it's a drop from stock but worth the sacrifice IMO.

I would definitely do it, but don't expect any big power gains. Your bike, even with those mods, is still pretty much stock. The PC III will give it the extra fuel it will need with the AC and mufflers. And yes, it will run a little cooler. Like already mentioned, your MPG will drop a little. I wouldn't worry about wasting money on a dyno with those mods. A canned map will get 90% out of your bike and it will run fine.

Oh, you can mount it under the left side cover. A couple zip ties will hold it there without any problems. Then run the cable over to your ECM.

Have the PC3 with V&H true duals, oval pipes and an Ness Big sucker filter and got a little more horsepower and a little less torque due to removing the y-pipe. Pulled the map off PC website and re-dyno'd and it was pretty well on target - The PC works fine but there are a lot of options and from the stories here most work well

I agree that it helps some, but unless you go big bore and change out the cams you don't really need to spend the money on a PCIII. Air cleaner change and exhaust replaced to a better free flowing system you could get the stage 1 down load from the dealer and it would run fine. Some would say this is BS, but I know for a fact it would be fine. I have a 2005 FLHTCUI, big bore, stage 2 down load, se203 cams, SE exhaust "not street legal", SE air cleaner stage 1. No PCIII or SERT and she runs great. Sure it could run better and get a few more horses out of it, but untill I feel I need those few horses I'll keep just the way it is. I had her well over 110mph, plugs are tan, no real heat issues and she gets anywhere from 37 to 43 mpg depending on what state I get gas in. Also depending on if you have an ESP you could have issues when dealing with repairs if they see you installed a Fuel management system. The PCIII is great cause you can take it off before taking your scoot in and you should be good to go.

The Power Commander usually has poorer gas mileage, because the downloaded maps are set to 13.5 to 13.8 in cruising range. The stock Harley ecm program has a 14.6 for cruising range. So, your using about 10% more gas. But, your bike will run cooler and have some extra power and torque. For me, if I could get an extra 1 horsepower for each mile per gallon it cost me, my bike would be getting about 2 miles to the gallon.

I would consider the pcv instead. You can make adjustments with a laptop without needing the expensive hardware. There is almost an endless adjustments you can do with it.

I actually got better mpg when I changed from the fuelpak to the pcv.

I will send you a pm for a distributor that has a 2 year warranty and pre programed map already installed. He has hundreds of maps.

I have never heard of a 06 96 ci engine.
The 96 ci came out in 07.
