Speakers mounted in lowers-are they worth it? really needed?
I am looking at the biketronics and arc audio speakers and amp. I have talked to Mike (BT) and Wayne (ARC). Both recommended first I just go with the front mounted 6.5 speakers and amp. If the extra speakers are worth the trouble I would like to add them at the same time.
I would like to hear from people that have went from upgraded front fairing speakers, and later added lower fairing speakers. Just trying to found out the sound quality of lower fairing mounted speakers.
Anyone that has lower fairing speakers please leave your comments.

I happen to have handlebar mounted Rumble roads on my RKC. I also have lower fairings installed, so if I wanted to add speakers to the lowers, I could.
However, I must admit that my speakers are so loud, and throw off such great sound, I can't imagine wanting speakers in the lower fairings.

I have wondered how well you could hear them down there. The rear speakers are useless, unless you ass is humming along. Another examply of HD excelling in cosmetics.

I would say no unless you want to rock out the intersection when you stop. Otherwise it will just get washed away like a speaker with no cabinet.

I would have to agree. I have 6-1/2" Infinity speakers in my
lowers and can't hear them. I say save your money.

At highway speeds YOU will not hear them very well, others around you will.. At lower speeds it will add volume to your system and again others around you will hear it better. The question you gotta ask is do you want to hear it better yourself or do you want others around you to hear it too?
I have an Arc mini amp, it was driving the biketronics 6.5" speakers until last week when I upgraded to the 7.25" J&M speakers. Overall I like the upper end of the biketronics speakers, but the J&M's have a fuller sound, I am able to run the crossover at 55hz on the Arc and I get more bass / mid bass out of the speakers. It is still not perfect. I am considering switching to another 6.5" at some point, perhaps the Boston Acoustic Pro series...
If I want the best of everything I would get a Roadglide fairing, put in some 6.5" components for upper range and stuff an 8" sub in there Now that'd sound great.

...... just ANOTHER reason to ride on 'the dark side'.
..... I've seen 6.5" speakers cut into the inner flanks of the RG fairing (near glove boxes) that fire into the center. That'd keep the sound in by the rider.

i have the Arc setup on my road glide, and am very satisfted with it and feel doing the lowers is more than i need. bass is lost on a bike when moving so a sub would also be a waste unless you sit and listen to your bike

I've been chasing the perfect sound on my SG as well. Added the Arc mini amp and their 5 1/4 speakers first. Wasn't really happy with that so a few months ago i changed to their 6.5 speakers. The 6.5s do have a fuller sound and the system sounds GREAT when it's just sitting in the garage with the bike not running. However, when you are running down the road at highway speeds most of the FULL sound gets washed away with the wind. I'm not sinking any more money in this thing. If you are an audiophile like me you'll never be happy with the sound coming from a motorcycle so don't waste your money.
