Someone posted this part in a road glide headlight thread. Anyone know what this part is?

Thanks
Mark

That would be the hardened headlights. The glass lens is hardened because you won't be running the clear plastic cover and if a rock would hit the stock bulb it would crack.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture would you? The bulbs in both are H4s. On my 2000 road glide the plastic lens (on the headlamp assembly, not the outer lens )is not a seperate part number (although that lens is screwed to the headlamp assembly and could be replaced I guess). Is the lens actually glass?

The lens is a hardend plastic... and is suposed to be capable of taking a fairly big hit without cracking.

I am not familiar with the 2000 RG's lenses but I am pretty sure the cover is replaceable seperately.. if not you may be able to change the the globe assembly to the later one that does not require the lense..

I have to make things complicated. I found a european spec road glide headlight assembly which is supposed to give much better lighting than the US headlight assembly. The clear plastic lens on both assemblies look the same and are screwed to the back/reflector part of the assembly. I have always been disapointed with the stock road glide headlights and am doing everything I can to improve it. I have always felt that the second plastic lens limits some of the light (every little bit?). I have the black headlight bezel that comes on the 2009 SE Road Glide and replaces that second plastic cover/lens. I am hoping that the hardened lens will fit a 2000 road glide? I would think if it did not fit the whole headlight assembly would be different instead of just the lens?
