103" Question?
I just bought a bike with a 103" engine and six speed tranny. Its a 2007 FLHT P with ABS.
Is the 103 an 88 or 96 with a big bore kit? Is there anything to watch out for as far as mechanical "issues"?

The 2007 flhtp is a 96 cube with a 103 piston kit fitted.

To clarify : the 96 is an 88 Stroker.
The big bore kit that turns an 88 into a 95" turns the 96 into a 103"
I've done both the 88 to 95 and 96 to 103 conversions.
You can go up to a 107 " with your current motor ( Axtell and others sell kits)

Hogbag, I am sorry, but you are wrong. if it is a police bike, the reason for the P, it is a FLHTPI, which means an police bike (all of them had fuel injection) All stroker police bikes(those 07 up) are 103"

Try and keep the revs above 2700 rpm in 5 and 6 gear meaning don't drop into 6 until your around 70 mph. Has your bike got a stage 1 kit fitted or is it a stock.

HogBag - I have an '07 FLHP with same engine/tranny setup (stock pipes, no stage 1 intake). Why the caution about not hitting 6th until 70 mph?

My 08 seems to run fine at 60 in 6th, I think I know what lugging is. Maybe I don't understand strokers? Could anyone elaborate?-Al

The 08's have the IDS pulley , I put one on my 07 and it does smooth out the lower revs.
I've had no issues running in lower rev ranges , but I wouldn't go under much under 2500.

So the only difference is the cylinders and pistons? Same cases, flywheels, cams, heads....everything?

I can't say for certain, but the P bikes engines are the Screamin Eagel 103 with eather a SE251 or SE255 cam. The TC96 had a number of changes made to it over the TC88. The Screamin Eagel are a true factory 103 and 110 cubic inch engine, and are assembled at a separate plant. The heads may have the SE springs, other then that they are the same as the TC96 with the exception of the left and later in 2010 both the left and right halfs main bearings were changed on all models.

I'm gonna pull the police supplement and compare it to the touring parts manual tomorrow.

One more item. You may also have the SE50mm throttle body.

I have a 07 FLHP. It most certainly does not have any SE parts on it. No se heads, no 251 or 255 cams. (well not yet anyway ) As other posters have noted, it's a 96 motor with big jugs. Same heads, same cams. I think it's got a heavy duty stator and clutch.
I gave it a stage I treatment, which really woke it up. I'm going to put in se-255 cams this winter, and I figure that's really all the motor needs.
