Crash bar cold weather cover
I'm looking for a leather or wind/water proof crash bar cover for a Electra glide classic.I've heard that strap system works better than snaps (pull out)
Any help and web sites would be great,Thanks !

I got mine on Ebay last year. I forgot the search word,...... something with "chaps" on the end of it, I think. There were several to choose from at that time.

I got the original HD ones and they work fine, I also got a pair from eglidegoodies.com which are supposed allow a lil more airflow to the motor, they have snaps too, and no problems to date.

I went with these:
www.roadspirit.com
Quick shipping, no snaps, nice product. They fit well although I haven't had to use them yet.

Thery're called Desert Dawgs I believe. I had a set before 7-8 years ago. Unless it's in the 30's or raining it seemed to make the engine run much hotter than I liked so for fear of cooking the motor I only used them once or twice and sold them. Eventually I changed over to the Lindby bar.

I have a set of these and they work great. Use velcro instead of snaps, off and on in about 2 minutes. They fold up small in their own pouch. I just put on some HoggChopps so don't need them if you'd like to make an offer.

I have these and they work great! They use velcro which eliminates the issues with the snaps.

If you are looking for a leather cover to just protect your chrome crash bars in case you drop your bike...we make them. They are not on our website yet, but will be soon. Take a look at the attachment. The photo is not the best, but you get the idea.
They are without snaps to avoid any contact of metal to your chrome. You just lace them on, and they'll stay put.
In the picture you'll see that the lace is hanging down, because you don't want to cut them off right after you lace them on, because leather gives at the beginning, and you want to relace them after 2 weeks or so. Just hide the ends in the meantime.
A 10" pair for your engine crash bars are $25, plus $3 shipping.
If you are interested, please email me at
info@TennesseeHolsterCompany.com
Hopefully we can get you fixed up.
Isabel

Ya just can't beat the vinyl ones from HD for the money. Yes, I had a snap pull out when I wasn't careful about removing them but it was easily repaired by the same guy that stitched a couple of patches to my vest for $5. One set I've had since '95 on an Eglide that I still own (45K+ mi) with zero problemos. Absolutely the best bang for the buck accessory from HD.
