Touring Handlebar question
Hi All-- I have a 09 EG Classic with a Mustang seat. I am 6' and even with the Mustang I feel as if I am having to reach out to the stock handlebars. With arms extended out the grips come to about the middle of my fingers. I need to get the reach shortened a inch or two. Any thoughts? Or recommendations on after market? Thanks

What I would do is sint on the bike, place your hands where you want them to be and where you would find the most comfortable riding position and have someone measure the height, width and pullback necessary to attain that position.
Otherwise just pick something you like the look of that level of that's close.

Not a bad idea. I will do so. Would be nice if I do not need to extend cabling but if needed so be it.

I do like the Wild 1 575's and after doing some measuring I will probably order. Amazed at the difference in price between the Wilds and the Khromewerks but found a pic of the Wilds and they look great. 2.5 pull back from stock just might be what the doctor ordered. Thanks

I just completed a WO575 swap on my 2006 Ultra Classic. It's been a couple of weeks since the swap and I had a chance to sit on a stock Street Glide today with the OEM bars. I felt like I was in a foreign land; the Street Glide felt very uncomfortable. Needless to say, I love the 575's on my Ultra.
Here's what you'll need if you want to do the job right. All part numbers are Drag Specialties part numbers:
Handlebars:
#0601-0788 (1) WILD-1 10" BAGGER BARS
Wiring Extensions:
#2120-0033 (1) NOVELLO HANDLEBAR WIRING EXT KIT (15 WIRE), 12”
#2120-0093 (1) NOVELLO HANDLEBAR CB/RADIO EXT KIT (12 WIRE), 12”
Control Cables:
#0650-0339 (1) ALT LENGTH VINYL THROTTLE, 42 1/2"
#0651-0182 (1) ALT LENGTH VINYL IDLE CABLE w/CRUISE, 41 1/2"
#0652-0299 (1) ALT LENGTH VINYL CLUTCH CABLE, 64 11/16"
Brake Lines and fittings:
#11316-E (2) 16 INCH EBONY BRAKE LINE
#11325-E (1) 25 INCH EBONY BRAKE LINE
#1742-0102 (1) UNIV. T FITTING
#599-03BK (3) 90 DEGREE 3/8-10MM BANJO FITTING
#690-03BK (1) SHORT TUBE ADAPTOR
#691-03BK (2) LONG TUBE ADAPTOR
The clutch, idle and throttle cables are plus 2" over stock and are black vinyl to mirror the stock look. The brake lines are black braided steel with a clear coat. The wiring extensions I cut to size, essentially lengthening the stock control harnesses by about 4". I soldered my wire extensions instead of using the included pins, but that's just me.
I may have gone overboard, I know, but I demand no less than perfection on the work I do on my bike. When it came time to put it all back together, all the pieces fell into place like they were made that way.
If you want any details on any aspect of the job, just ask.

I believe you can adjust your stock handle bars back by removing the lower fairing cap. Might want to try that before dropping a ton of cash.

Wild one 517's are great too.
Put a set on my road king and they undoubtedly the most comfortable bars that I have ever had.

You might want to double check the pullback of the 575's vs. OEM. I put the 575's on my '06 Ultra and don't think I got 2.5" of additional pullback - maybe 1.5" or so. I'm shorter than you at 5'4" and had already put on a reach seat before putting on the 575's. I found that the 575's mostly eliminated the reach problem I had with the stock bars, but since they are about 2" wider than stock I feel I could use about another inch pullback to be the perfect setup for me. Also the wrist position is changed from the stock position, and combined with the added width, I think I prefer the stock wrist position over that with the 575's. Love the looks of the 1 1/4" 575 bars and the chrome is excellent. I replaced the brake and clutch cables and had the internal wiring done at the same time. It's an expensive proposition, and I think the recommendation to try out the bars in advance before starting the job is a good one.

You might try rotating the current bars back towards the seat beofre buying anything. Lowers them a little at the same time as they come back which you might or might not like. I did that recently on my 84 FLHTC and was amazed at the difference. Cost = $0

I got a quote on your list and the price came to about $650. Is this about right and do you know if this will work with ABS brakes?

Wait, so the WO575 has 5.16" more pull back than the Sweeper +2? I'm thinking that is not right. What are the stock specs?

ya its wierd how they are listed , maybe its because the sweepers are curved back to you??? dunno but i have seen both on SG's and it looked like to me 575 are little taller .....
Going by the specs it doesnt seem that way though hehe.
575's $650 or sweepers $150 ..... not much a choice unless you have the money to blow imho
