Road Glide Headlights
Just got in from an evening ride with a couple that got a beautiful used 08 Road Glide - they traded in an 01 SERG. He said the headlights sucked on the 01 - he tried several different bulbs and readjusting the headlights to no avail. He was hoping the new bike would be better, but the lights still didn't cover the road as well as my Street Glide (although I did notice that his were aimed awefully high..) What have you guys done to improve the headlights on your Road Glides or do you find them to be satisfactory? Mine do pretty well, but I want to put in the Sylvania Silver Star anyway. I was wondering what 2 Silver Stars would do in the RG?

Never been thrilled with my road glide headlights. I would love to do HID if I could find one guaranteed to work with my housing!

Mine seem OK, I can see good and when on HI, the road and ditches are lit up pretty well. A friend has the SG and when he is behind at night, its like his hi-beam is on in the mirror, makes it tough to see unless he falls way back.

I traded my 06 Road Glide for an Ultra and my headlight problems were solved. I had installed moto lights on the front forks which helped greatly, but you can forget trying to make the "stock" headlight system on the Road Glide any better because they suck.

Great Lights Here
Road Glides have great headlights when adjusted properly.Mine were set much too high from the factory.Adjusted on them twice, now they perform just great for my 21 mile commute at 4 a.m. Gotta keep the bugs off the cover too.

You guys obviously have never ridden a cross bones springer with that little lantern bobbing in the front! Seriously, I haven't noticed any lighting issues on my road glide but maybe they are adjusted properly.

I have HIDs and Kuryakyn driving lights(which I never need).
here is the HID I used:
http://www.xenonlink.com/H4+Bi-Xenon...e+HID+Kit.html
I learned about this kit on the other forum. I have had it in my bike since Dec 08 and done about 5000 miles and have had no issues. HIDs make a big difference.

How much of a difference did the HID kit make? does the stock plastic housing hold up good to this?
Curious because my 06 RG has the silverstars and it is getting the housing hot around the edges and melting. But I do run the high beams in the daytime also.

The best upgrade for RG headlights is the Euro headlight housing.

Did you do the install?
How much room was behind the bulb/socket? (the stock socket rubs )
Any install pictures?
Want to take some?
Thanks, I am very interested.

06Roadglide....it made things a lot clearer at night. I have not noticed it melting the housing at all.
Thealien...I did not do the install and fairing was removed a time or 2 after the install to adjust my Hogtunes set up. My indy did not notice any issues.

I have seen this mentioned in other posts (forums?); it sends the existing light out in a different pattern and all who had installed it seemed pleased.
