Unhappy Well....It happened......

Yep, finally happened........ I thought I would be fair and give riding lessons to my bike the other day. She's not to good at people riding though and wrecked me in a turn!! Actually I figured out that when the floorboards start scraping on a slightly crowned curve, you can't lean it any more or the primary will hit and from there on the story goes bad. I'm used to hearing the floorboards scrape but the sound of the whole bike sliding sideways down the road and crashing into a guard rail is a very ugly sound!!!! Luckily my wife and I weren't really hurt, just some road rash and bruises mainly, but there wasn't to much on my bike that didn't get scratched up and bent up. F****D up a perfectly good day and a good lookin bike though................ OH WELL........... at least she will be back together and purdy again soon.

Least you are here to write about it. That's always a good thing.

Makes ya sick though doesn't it? Did me anyway. Can't stand for anything to happen to my bikes.

Bummer. Here's what I found out, you can't corner hard when there is diesel fuel on the road. Your right about the sound of the bike scraping down the asphalt. The good news is diesel fuel reduces the friction on your skin. Found that out the same day. Dropping the scoot also makes ya gun shy for a couple rides.

I'm glad you two weren't seriously hurt. And the bike is repairable.

Don't sweat the small stuff in this lifetime. You'll get her fixed and back on the road again.

Glad you came guys came out okay.
I don't want to sound judgmental, but sounds like you may have hit that curve a bit too hard. If you enjoy hitting the curves that hard then great, but don't put your wife or any other passenger in that situation again.

as the saying goes, "it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when". any time you can walk away, it's a good crash.

Well the insurance guy told me the total was about $7000 worth of damage. I told my wife it sounds bad but if I "had" to wreck a bike I was glad it was the glide and not my old VTX. At least this way we had the hard bags and highway bar to help keep it off of us. Thanks for everyone's condolences........

Ya'll keep the shiny side up, the other way around...... SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
