09 Exhaust - what are my options?
Looking to pick up a 09 Street Glide next weekend and wondering what my options are with exhaust. With the under frame cross over, I don't know how quickly the suppliers will catch up.
Running Reinharts T/D's now on my 07 Ultra and like the sound...but thinking of V/H's or another sound.
What are my options? Am I stuck with slipons for now?

Your options for now are slip-ons. You can contact the vendors regarding complete exhaust systems, however their answer will be that once they are available they will let you know. They will not give you estimates nor anything else because they dont know when they will be available. A good educated guess would be 6-9 months after release of the '08 touring bikes.

Well, I'm waiting to see. There is a guy on here that's going to try a D&D Fat Cat. I'm hoping he posts the results.
For now slip ons. I don't know if they are difficult to get or what, I'm still waiting for mine to come in. Three weeks now.
The smaller diameter slip ons work, but the ones with the bigger canister seem to have to have a dimple in it because of the wider swingarm.
I'm not in a rush though, the after market fuel management systems have to catch up. I'm a huge proponent of Powercommander, but I'm trying to hold off to get a Tmax with the auto tune. Even looking at the TTS as an interim solution.

2009 TOURING exhaust - Options?
Mods - please leave in this section. Question is specific to the radical changes to the 2009 TOURING bikes.
Looking to pick up a 09 Street Glide next weekend and wondering what my options are with exhaust. With the under frame cross over, I don't know how quickly the suppliers will catch up.
Running Reinhardt's T/D's now on my 07 Ultra and like the sound...but thinking of V/H's or another sound.
What are my options? Am I stuck with slip ons for now?

Because you are asking specifically about exhaust I seriously doubt that the moderators are going to leave this in this part of the forum, since it really is more applicable to the exhaust forum, but good luck.

Youre stuck for now. Probably until around February. I would think that the rear header mounts are different due to the frame change.
Plus I would be curious what people are going to do with that exhaust hanger that is going to be left over after the "crossunder" exhaust pipe is removed.

Leave It Alone!
Why don't you just leave it alone and put some slip ons that you like??? From what I can see, this system might just be the best performing header pipe system HD ever designed. A two into one for low and mid range torque that is designed properly and then back out to two pipes to allow you to have dual exhaust. The piping appears to be large enough to flow just fine. Just leave it alone.
Now I know there are those that will say the pipe that goes under the swing arm is too smashed to flow right. I dought it. I believe it will more than flow enough exhaust gas on a 96" bike. Now if your going to put a 120" motor in it then you might want to change out the system. But for now, leave it the f.... alone!

Ain't that the truth!! Spend mo money. That's what Harleys are for! Hey if you go with slip ons, get one that has a 4" can. They make WAY more power than a 3" can. More volume. It really works. I can attest to it. I had the 4" CVO 110 mufflers on my bike and they made a HUGE increase in power and torque.
They were just a tad too quiet and I replaced them with this piece of crap Cobra 2=1 system that is now so loud I can't hear my radio. But being the fabricater I am, I have a project in the works.

I thought I remember seeing this on one of these threads!! It was saying that the D&D would fit on a 09 Ultra!!! I e-mailed D&D and they said they didn't have an 09 to try it on yet!!!!!!!!

I did the SE performance touring mufflers for my 09 SG, sounds and looks great. No hi-flo air cleaner kit or download needed. Saved the money for chrome...

At the very least put in the K&N stock replacement air cleaner and install an adjustable, non CA, Cobra fueler with O2 sensors. You will be amazed at the difference when you add some fuel. I get 43 MPG average and my bike runs cooler and so much better after I did. I know the Cobra tuner is the cheap way to go, but compared to stock it rocks!!
If you don't have the money for the Cobra at least put in the IED's from Knight Rider. Your engine is running way too lean. That's why it runs hot!

I have an 09 Street Glide with V&H Slip-on ovals and SE air-filter. I love the deep sound of the V&H slip-ons (had Reinharts on my Softail) but I am a bit disappointed that they aren't louder. They only really rumble when I'm over 3K rpm.
Any suggestions on how to get these things louder?
