must have tools and supplies for trips

what tools and supplies do you need to keep on your bike for long trips and probably all the time for that matter. my short list would be 10 mm wrench, tire repair kit and compressor, cell phone, atlas, general tools for roadside repairs, flash light and extra batteries, soap, rags, windex, and a 36 mm ,i think thats right, wrench for the rear axle on newer bikes.what other things do people tend to forget to take that they should have?

We carry a spak plug & wrench, some zip ties, a basic Leatherman tool, soft ties and tie down straps, a cell phone and the AAA card.
Changing a tires in the garage has taught me I DON"T care to do it by the side of the road {unless it was on a Beemer}.
If there are more tools I'm toting around its for something that I should have fixed before leaving...

99% percent of the time you are not going to need anything, but when that 1% happens what you really need you wont have.

Now with that being said the number 1 most important thing to have is enough money to get yourself and bike home if something happens.

Good cell phone is number one, one of the worse things you can do is overpack so the whole ride is uncomfortable with a bunch of crap you never need ..why the metric tools?

What I do when I get a new bike is start doing all the maintenance keeping track of what tools are needed. I have a small tool bag for each bike its made for enduro racing made by Moose. Then I fill each bag with the bike specific tools needed for that bike and carry it at all times. Also a small gutted air compressor and jumper cables made from some heavy speaker wire. I have been doing this for years but to tell the truth I keep my bikes in as good of shape as I can and most of the time they have never been need.
Most of the time they have been used to help out fellow bikers that broke down.
