Dymo, I have that kit on my '08 Road Glide and am pleased with the results. The kit I have is the one without the cams, and I can definitely feel additional power. The kit comes with the SE Intake, but you will need to purchase the ECM download as well ($150 or so). I'm using my stock pipes, and suspect that I could get more power out of the kit with a set of aftermarket slip-ons. I recommend the kit, but wonder if a more conventional Stage 1 (Intake, Tuner, and Pipes) would provide similar results for less money...

Dymo that would be the best way to go
you could get heads and cams later or just drop in some andrews 54h cams

Faast Ed wants to know where he is and how he got here
He can do the 54's with no other changes (except for fuel management) and be extremely pleased. He can add heads or displacement later. There have been some real happy campers that did 'cams only' with the 54's. My neighbor is one of them happy campers. No more heat issues and good mileage. Nice jump in power (and sounds much better). I'd choose that over a 'displacement only' deal.

Thanks for asking the same question I was wondering about. I may do the cams on my '07 FLSTC that already has the Stage 1.

Oops! My bad... I used the term intake since it was not just a filter element, but also the backing plate.

Looks like you got the best bang-for-the-buck already with the FM setup, assuming you bought their custom baffles and are running Jamie's PCIII map.

I asked Jamie about the BB kit a few months ago and he said dyno testing showed that it was not a cost-effective way to go over the stock TC96. I believe he said there would be a 4-5HP gain, and that TQ would be little more since stroke will not change. It would be a good idea to call and ask him, then let us know. When I talk to him next, which should be next week, I'll ask him myself.

I looked at cams at one time and became quickly underwhelmed, as those that tested well in TC88/95 engines did not do well in TC96's. One notable example was the Andrews 26, which dynoed only slightly better than stock in two bikes.

Jamie tested a TC96 with 255's and 2-into-1 recently and said that 2500-3500 TQ was lower than a stock engine with his custom baffles. This is not acceptable to me, as if I do a cam upgrade I will want TQ to increase in that important range, which is where I ride most, not decrease.
My benchmark is 10TQ increase around 3200rpm, but Jamie says that's unlikely with any cam. I'm not particularly interested in peak HP.

If you decide to go one route or another, please keep us informed. Also, ditto the suggestion to install and oil cooler, as IMO that is a must on any TC engine, especially one that's been modified.

I went with the 26h in my '07 DWG. No head work, D&D fatcat 2-1, and dyno tune. 87hp/97tq. Way better ride and numbers than stock.
The 26 does quit a little early but it has what I need where I want it.

iclick - fascinating information about the cams! If I'm summing all this up correctly, it sounds like the most cost effective upgrade for the TC96 would be the Stage 1 since the Big Bore kit offers little torque improvement and the horsepower improvement seems comparable to what I would expect with a Stage 1 and no displacement changes.

Is that the way you see it? I mean, the Big Bore kit is essentially a Stage 1 since it contains the intake and ECM re-map, only minus the pipes. The extra displacement seems to "offset" the effect of using the stock pipes. I think I'm going to add a set of slip-ons to my setup and see what that brings...

Sorry if I hijacked this thread - very interesting information....
